scangauge 2 has a hp gauge built in, it says I am putting out 230. I know that s not right, but atleast it gives you a number. Then when you add mods you can see if the number goes up or down. 230 nice right

Or a run down the 1/4 mile is a good indicator. Do some runs now to get a baseline time, then after mods do more runs and if the time is quicker you have more power.

My MCS with JCW engine kit does a constant 14.5. The hardest thing is getting a front wheel drive off the line, it takes practice.

Your 1/4 mile trap speed can be a pretty good indirect indicator of horsepower...

Best to go to the dyno though

Go to same dyno guy each time though. Different dynos will give significantly different numbers.

If you want to be fast the best indicator of power, as has been stated, is 1/4 mile time and MPH in the quarter mile. Remember you need to compare two runs (before and after mods) with similar 60' times (traction) and similar density altitude (atmospheric conditions)

dynolicious is a great app for the iphone. Just make sure to calibrate it before you do your runs every time. Also quarter mile time is a great indicator. The trap speed is what you need to look at. My best run was a 14.9 with a 2.3 60' and i trapped 96.

^Ya theres a few dyno apps that have amazing accuracy. May people now have compared the dyno apps to real in car performance recording machines and have gotten amazing results.

I've heard alot about how much hp you get versus how much mini says is stock. With your mods you could be putting close to that to the flywheel, which is only like 195hp to the wheels

Be humble if your fast just say that you don't know. But if you are really really wondering the best way is stick on a dyno.

I would tend to agree with you, however, I do like numbers and for my own personal knowledge Id like to know how much a standard MCS puts down with bolt ons like mine, which is available obviously but theres nothing like seeing the data first hand.
