Wow August 26th is coming up and it's the official 50th anniversary of the very first production Mini. I can't believe none of the dealers, vendors, or web sites (that I've seen) have rallied around this date to make it MINIful day!

On Aug 26th I say, if you own a MINI go give it a hug (or at least a good wash); if don't own a MINI, go hug a MINI owner (or buy them a bottle of their favorite and maybe they'll take you for a spin); if you don't own a MINI and don't have any MINI friends, go test drive one; and if none of those work for you, at least go watch the Italian Job (both versions) and think MINIful thoughts :D

For one, MINI has created an R56 version of George Harrison's Mini and will be donating it to the Material World Charitable Foundation he founded. This will happen at the MINI United 50th anniversary celebration at Silverstone.

 

That's nice but not what I was thinking. I was more thinking of a grassroots celebration of the car. Maybe that's too idyllic . George Harrison would want it that way
