Cooper S for sale
>>How Much? and Which state are you in?
I have a Cooper S arriving in June in So. Cal that I have decided to not buy for myeself (I am getting a Cooper next week, Indio Blue) but the price is locked in for my Cooper S and I have a refundable deposit on it. It is loaded with Every Option (Sport, Premium, Leather). Dark Silver, White Roof and Mirrors, Blue/Black leather and matts.
I am in Los Angeles area and the price I have it locked in is above sticker, but still lower than most dealers are selling it for here. This car arrives in 2 weeks. I'm considering keeping it locked in and selling it to someone on the spot at the dealership (eg: they can come with me to the dealer and I put in their name) or I can sell it to someone and they pick it up brand new?
What is the going rate currently, I've heard as much as $36,000 locally. I could sell this loaded brand new Cooper S for between $31,000-$33,000 (plus tax/license) and would make a little on it. Otherwise if there is no interest I'll get my deposit back and the dealer will sell it for over $36,000 locally.
If anyone sees this post and is interested in getting a new Cooper S now for less than most dealers are currently selling it at, please reply.

Hey there Jeremy 99, The car you have coming in , in 2 weeks has premium pack and sport pack with Lapis blue leather. The MSRP is 24k even. if you pay the normal mark up for So. Cal its around 2k to 25oo. You're trying to sell if for 33k. It sounds to me like you're trying to make about $7,000. That's more than a little bit.
Oh, and by the way, good luck trying to take your customer to the dealer and makeing them buy the car instead of you. They'll laugh you right ouot fo there.
You're trying to gaug more than the dealers.
Niello in Sacramento is at window sticker, and so is East Bay MINI in Pleasanton.
You're the reason that dealers mark up there car. They have to because if they sell it to someone like you, you'll just turn around and sell it for a lot more.

Jeremy,
I really can't beleive that here in So Cal (where we're all talking to each other)
that anybody who isn't living under a rock is going to pay 36K for a Cooper S. Come on man.
The MSRP with all additions is way below that. Try Ebay next time.

Hey Guys,
I do not have the car locked at 24k, my buy price is locked at close to 30K (not including tax and license). The dealer is now charging 35K plus for this same car. Most dealers are charging $6,000-$10,000 over sticker in So Cal. specifically for the Cooper S.
If you are unaware of this, then you do not live in So. Cal and have not called every dealer in So. Cal and No. Cal like I have. Yes, you can supposedly get it for MSRP plus a bunch of added margin stuff (usually about 3K-5K like LoJack, CD changer, etc) but only if you are willing to wait a year, or if you're lucky you may catch one that fell through, but those go for over MSRP, even at Long Beach Mini, they add a lot of stuf like wheels alone for 4K, etc.
I am not trying to put one over on anyone. I was looking at making something small for my efforts if someone wants this car, maybe 1K for doing all the work and going to the dealer, etc. I said I would sell it for $31,000 - did you guys not read that?
I'll just get my deposit back on it.

Don't buy it! I have called all the dealers in SO Cal and not all of them are charging a markup. Long Beach is committed to MSRP. Yeah the wait is long, but it is silly to pay such a high premium. Mini's are great cars! Just don't buy the hype! 2 years from now you'll never be able to get out of the hole, especially if you put yourself there.
I'm not trying to be harsh, just stand back for a few moments and find the value in your hard earned money.

It is a shame that members of this site are furhter adding to the biggest downside of new Minis, the markeup.
I feel that this site should be free from people who trying to make $$$ of people sincerely interested in these great machines.
Just say no to price-gougers.
