In an accident? Check the seat

I just got my car back after a month of being in the shop. Why so long? I was rear ended .

I wanted to let everyone know that if you are in an accident there is something you should check that you might not think of. My baby has to go BACK to the dealership because I didn't think to check this.

The MINI kept me safe. I didn't feel a twinge of pain after the accident. But, the drivers seat is no longer stationery. It has give to it that I can feel when I get in and when accelerating or breaking somewhat suddenly.

So, as a little PSA- check your seat after the accident so it can get repaired in the first round. Does anyone know of any other hidden repairs I may need?

Thanks for the heads up! I was rear ended Sat. The car goes in to MINI Thurs for inspection & estimate; I go in tomorrow for the same. Just checking.

What was your experience re rear end damage, alignment, etc? I'm sure I'll need a new hatch and a new bumper assembly, but are there other things to look for?

Let me know the fix on the seat. I bought my 02 MCS from a guy who was rear-ended (fixed by Mini). The Driver's seat does give in a forward motion when I brake, so I'd be very interested in the fix you get from Mini.

When you look at my car from the back straight on- pretty much everything you can see is brand new. If you want me to type in the entire list of what they did, I will, but it's a LONG list.

Here are the highlights: new bumper, new hatch, new hatch assembly, new muffler, some kind of brackets that I had to wait a long time for, new emblems, ...

I was hit by a Chevy Cavalier. The wedge-shaped car basically lodged itself between the bumper and muffler. there was a lot of worry about my drive train being out of alignment- but it was OK thank goodness.

The good part is that the MINI is clearly designed to keep you safe. I didn't feel a thing the next day- not even a smidgeon of pain! I think the seat took the impact. I would much rather the seat be broken than the driver.

She was a young driver with four passengers. I don't think she was paying attention to the road. The most ridiculous part- they were on their way to work selling perfume door-to-door. One of them offered me a discount when we were waiting for the cops to show up. Um, I don't think so. Her car was totaled.
