+1!!

DDM RIS is the best one so far. Worth every friggin' penny!

I was going to go with the Alta before Chad from Detroit tuned (www.detroittuned.com) recommended this one from various customer experiences and the practicality of of.

The DDMWorks RIS really does not make a lot of noise. Since it is closed off at the filter the noise is very low. You can hear the BOV a little. If you want a lot of noise then either of your choices would be better.

do you recommend an Alta or K&N air filter? The DDM website shows a filter that doesn't appear to be OEM.

Also, is the DDM compatable with the M7 strut brace?

DDMWorks uses a K&N filter. I think I heard the M7 brace does not work with the DDMWorks RIS. DDMotorsports has a GTSPEC brace that works with the RIS.

Thanks again. You've been a wealth of knowledge. One more thing that was on my mind. Is the extra $200+ for the RIS worth the money. VS buying the street intake DDM makes.

I would buy the race version DDM or the JCW intake. The M7 and Alta intakes may show improved dyno numbers on a dyno but in the real world they will suck in a lot of hot air in stead of cold air. See how they are open to the hot engine compartment?

JCW box and MINI Madness filter

I liked the Alta 2.0 I had before though. Easy to clean, easy to removed lid and get to filter. Nice set up, and real LOUD SC Sound.

During driving conditions you will get a good amount of fresh airflow to the ALTA intake not only thru the OE intake tube but thru the hood scoop as well.. We recommend either drilling more more holes in the scoop vent or taking it out altogether. Make it a more "functional" scoop!!

M7 Ags-r is a fine intake a little pricey but intake air temps according
to scangauge only 3-5 degrees above outside temps. DDM with ram-air
scoop would be second choice.

On the DDMWorks RIS....

What happens when it is raining. Wont the water just get collected in the sir box and sucked into the monifold? Sometimes it rains pretty hard where I live.

Something else to consider.....
http://defendersofspeed.com/store/pr...p?id_product=6

Theory proven by GM back in the 60's and has application for MINI's. At speed air will create a low pressure near cowl/lower windshield. Cooler and basically better airflow than trying to come in through the hood scoop unless you raise the scoop up like some funny car. Remember the cowl induction from the 60's muscle cars? NASCAR currently uses this theory as well

Was like 2in from buying DDM and a friend in community turned me onto this. Contact Clint of DOS if you want more details.

+1, that sure as heck makes a lot of sence. The stock hood scoop is NOT scooping much if any air. I took out the plastic grill in my scoop and have been driving in the rain and zero water gets in. Like you said you'd have to raise this scoop up to get it to really work. I believe M7 has a scoop that appears that it MIGHT scoop in more air.

I think using the scoop to get air works the best. That's why we carry both the M7 and the DDM.
