hello guys. new to the board.
I have a 03' mini 81k miles in it, couple of weeks ago I noticed that my power steering was very rough and there was also a very loud humming noise that came along with it, figured it was the power steering. Got complete p/s oil change and it didn't do the trick, after reading the boards and talking to my mechanic it was conclued that the power steering PUMP was the problem, I got it changed last week (pricy) ...most of the humming/noise is gone but not completely. Steering wheel is a bit' smoother than before though the humming is slightly there, he said that it would take a little while for the pump to get situated

my question is:
while the mechanic did the repair, he told me that the "dust/sound panel" at the bottom of the car was missing (bought the car used). He also said that if i had it installed it might help a lot with the loud noise all together aswell as keeping the bottom engine clean from dust/dirt.

He told me to find a panel online to get the best price possible, but I havent found anything regarding the title he gave it. I search for dust panels and sound panels but I couldnt find any info. Im assuming it goes by another name, any ideas? price range

Well for the P/S noise. Welcome to the club. They ALL make noise, if it doesn't make noise it's not working. The early cars were louder, and the new pumps are "NEW Design" that are quieter, but noise is perfectly normal.

As for the dust cover, he prob means the splash shield that connects to the front bumper. I'd ask your mechanic if that's what he meant. The one that connects to the bumper??? If so I can hook you up with one.
