Remember also, that protests can also be if you suspect a car in your class is not following the rules for that class, running out of heat, being called for a DNF when you believe there was none, etc.

SMF is a new supplemental class that is just starting. Right now we have just SM but you'd have to see who might fit into this class for front wheel drive cars. Does anyone else want it?

Lets look at the breakdown based on the last event-
1. BMW M3 (RWD)
2. Subaru WRX- STi (AWD)
3. BMW M3 (RWD)
4. Honda Civic (FWD)
5. Acura Integra (FWD)
6. MINI Cooper S (FWD)
7. Subaru WRX wagon (AWD)
8. MINI Cooper S (FWD)
9. Subaru Impreza (AWD)

Stephen N. has dropped out of SM and now drives a Miata
We could recruit a few more SM drivers in MINIs.

STREET MODIFIED

- The SMAC feels that the prior proposal for SMF did not receive enough support to be considered for a national class

at this time. The SMAC would like to propose the following for a possible SMF provisional class for 2009:

- SMF would encompass ALL FWD cars under the current SM weight formula: 1550 lbs + 125 lbs/liter

- All SM rules will apply with the following exception:

- Cars running tires with a nominal width of 275 or less will NOT receive a weight break as stated in SM.

- FWD vehicles originally classed in SM2 add 100 lbs to min weights.

- This class would be a provisional class that will run with SM at nationals. SM-eligible cars will be eligible for and counted within SM for contingency, trophies, etc.

Submitted,

Erik Strelnieks, SEB representative

You can ask Curtis how he feels about this change.

Now that nationals have passed I can ask about SMF class as a subclass for SM at nationals- if they gave awards separately then we can ask about having it in Hawaii region.

Next Autocross is next sunday Sept 27
