I don't know about you, but I was surprised when I picked up my 2004 Mini
Cooper today with the Sport package (16" performance run-flats) and it had
a spare tire under the car. I thought only the base car with 15" regular tires
came with a spare. Makes me feel a lot more comfortable since I have already
changed out my tires to non-run-flats.

My 03 MC was already ordered when my MA mentioned it came with a spare. I had assumed all run-flats didn't have a spare. It was good news, now I can get off the interstate if I have a flat and heve a spare to put on.

All Cooper's come with spare tires, regardless of optioning. All Cooper S's, do not come with spare.

Spare:
Cooper - Yes
Cooper S - No

Ha! Yeah, way back in the olden days....I wondered about that when I got my naught-two as well but didn't complain of course. There were even reports at the time of some US dealers actually removing the spares from new MCs because they thought it was a mistake.
