Engine Heat
First off, I know almost nothing about the engine of a car beside the basic functions, so try to bare with me here.
I got home from work about an hour and a half ago. The ride from work to home is about 5 miles of highway, and maybe a mile of city streets. On the highway I probably drove in the upper 70's, maybe hit 80. The A/C was on too.
I just opened up the hood now (90 minutes later) and the engine is still pretty darn hot. Hot enough that I know anything metal I touch would burn me pretty good.
Is it normal for an engine to stay that hot for that long? Something to worry about? It is pretty hot and humid here today so maybe that has something to do with it.
Thanks!

Garaged? Closed hood, no air flow. Engine operates with the water in the 220F range, and that is the temp of the stuff cooling the engine.
Right now, it is 101F here. If I shut off my MINI in the garage, leave the hood and the garage door closed, it will stay warm for a long time. It is just physics.
I think you are ok. Its just the weather.

Thanks guys! Hopefully it's nothing to worry about.
Ya I've noticed the MINI is a hot car(no pun intended) but that turbo does not help the situation. But if you are worried don't be it was manufacture to run a lil warm. But that is one of my ideas for future mods is working on cooling the motor. Cause the cooler the car runs the better performance.
