Alta Boost Tube / helix 13 bov cel :/

Hi everyone,

So two days ago I put on the Alta Cold boost tube (that sucked lol) and a helix 13 bov well that night when I did the test it ran great! The following morning I was getting ready to go to work, started the car and it did not seem as powerful, then the CEL came on. I looked at the engine and the tube to the throttle body had come off. So I lube it up and was able to put it on again (did better this time) and made sure it was tight. I still have the check engine light and wondering if anyone else figured this out. I have seen a couple post about vacuum leaks which I dont think I have. Also the helix 13 bov if anyone has had a problem with that. Thank you for your time.

*edit* Never mind, my mini fix itself. Had to go to an army thing this morning, light came on (no surprise), came back and left a little later and no light!

Why did you "lube" it to put it on the throttle body? That certainly has something to do with it. The Alta throttle body tube is a tight fit on the throttle body side, but the only type of lubricant to assist in putting the tube on is an extremely mild solution of soap/water, otherwise just use water. If you're using anything else like a grease that is certainly a big NO NO! Make sure the tube is on the throttle body inlet nice and square and also that the clamp is positioned correctly. Using a flathead screwdriver helps get the tube on. I've since replaced my Alta tube with something else, but I've never had this problem you're describing and I've put over 20,000 miles on my aftermarket tube.

You have the possibility of getting a P115D code with a vent to atmosphere BOV especially on a '09+ year R56. This will result in an engine torque derate condition.
