mileage jumkies and road trips

Just got done with mini road trip to the Indiana Dunes Yesterday, stuffed two - 7 year olds, wife, myself, cooler, beach umbrella, one chair, clothes and beach toys in the Mini (I think I could have put in a little more).

Today its off to Wiscinsin for a little longer trip.

In any case, I'm interested in those who have put some real miles on thier minis, like 20,000 to 30,000 per year...problems, no problems, you get the idea.

I meant milage junkies

Sorry mis-spell, also, this is for 2nd generation minis, although those with a lot of miles on 1st generation can chime in.

Thanks.

Though I sold my '08 MCS in just under a year, I did have over 20K miles on it. That's not overly impressive but when we drive to the beach, we usually take my H2 or my wife's jeep. (that's where the miles accumulate)

On my '09 JCW, if I keep driving the way I am, I'll kill that mileage. In the last 4 weekends, I drove....

NC to Tampa (visit family)
NC to Orlando (get an exhaust for the JCW)
NC to Kentucky (get a tune from RMW)
NC to Tampa (pickup family)

In 2 weeks we'll be driving to Jacksonville for a cruise but I'm sure we'll take the wife's pink jeep. (I wear BIG SHADES)

drive, drive and drive some more

My 2005 Mini Cooper has only 45,000 miles and counting. Ohio is home and the Mini has gone on a few trips:

Visit my sister in Maine - 2000 miles (with my other sister and her 2 boys)
Visit the folks in Conn. - 1000 miles (at least 4 times in the Mini)
Daytona 500 - 2500 miles
Disney World w/3 kids - 2750 miles (my wife flew and I now have a Minis Do More type hitch/cargo box)
MOTD the past 4 years - 1200 miles (a few hundred more on the Dragon!)

For most trips getting around 36 mpg, Disney avg. 39!

1st gen here. Our Mini is our traveling car, we've been up and down the left coast, & Nevada and Arizona. Not super long trips, but a few, 200 to 300+ miles a day. There are 4 of us, son who is almost 16, and daughter almost 13, wife and I. We've all learned to pack just what we need, and not buy too much on our trips.

I also commute w/ the Mini, and often times have 4 adults in it w/ no complaints.

Oh - just turned 204,000 miles yesterday.
