New Dude and Seat Covers

Hey, well the wife and I finally got our Mini Cooper today. We ended up with a nicely optioned Mellow Yellow Cooper S with Premium, Convienence and Sport pkgs.

This will be my business travel car. I wanted something fun with great fuel mileage. Also I am 6'5" tall and I fit perfectly too.

I am not new to forums and I know to use the search features but I can not find any info about seat covers. My car has the cloth seats and my wife really wanted leather or leatherette. I was told there are exact replica seat covers that slide over the stock cloth seats to make the front and rear seats look like leather or leatherette....HELP...I can't find this info.

thanks in advance! Mike

Sorry, can't help you with your seat covers, but I wanted to say welcome to another mellow yellow owner. Head over to the Is There A Mellow Yellow Owners Club thread and say hello to everyone. And post a picture or two.

There are aftermarket covers on sale this week at mossmini.com. I cannot say much about them but have never used them before.

Did not find any "Slip-On" Leather Seat Covers, just kits that needed stitched on, when I searched for upgrade of my seats.

I chose the Wet Okole's (link in my sig below and go to my Gallery for pix) and have loved them for a year now.

Their 'Wet-Suit" Neoprene is super comfortable, cool in summer and warm in winter, mossmini may be similar, but I have never seen them.

Pretty sure that Wet Okole's (just from MINI's seen and posts on NAM) are the favorite with MINI owners.

Never heard of them, thought their story about "History of Cooper Car Company read a little strange.... and then saw this on their seat cover discription:
"...sure to enhance the appeal of the interiors of your Chevy. Coverking is allowed to use original GM logos, ..."
My Wet Okole not only had exact allowance for MINI's Airbags, but also had bound cutouts for Head Rests and seat back Release Levers,
logo's were optional.

In Alabama, leatherette seats are sweaty. I got cloth and won't cover them up, no matter how nice the covers might look.

I do agree the cloth seats are very comfortable....but....my beautiful wife of 20 years insists leatherette or real leather.

She kinda of OK'd the Wet Okoles in black and yellow.

Oh and we live in Tampa so we know about hot and humid...but...in her defense we really do not sweat in the leather seats in our other cars.

You could compromise and give her genuine Italian leather shift boot, eBrake boot, and armrests from Redline. A variety of colors are available. Here are some photos of mine in black with silver stitching:

Hi!, yes bought from Ferman. I've never been to there service department. I wish Mini would open up a Tampa/Brandon location.

What did Ferman do in service to turn you off?

I did not buy at Ferman, but the few times I have been there for parts or service it seemed very unorganized. I think it is in the interest of saving money. On the weekends they close Mini service you have to use BMW ....but no one seems to know that and I did a lot of walking back and forth. The same with parts...except the Mini guys decided to close up shop for a whileand the guys at BMW ended up helping. All in all it was a frustrating, time consuming experience...also they won't match Morristown Mini's discount parts prices!

Last I heard, no. Sure would be nice to only have to drive 10 miles instead of 100 for service.

I did not think about that when buying the car....doh! My Mini dealer is across Tampa from me...about 1.5 hours at most.
