Exhaust Depot downpipe + Alta exhaust?

Hi everyone --

What a shock, I've got the CEL with my Alta turboback exhaust (I bought the complete 3" exhaust, not just the downpipe). So I'm wanting to buy an Exhaust Depot downpipe, but it's got the flange for a stock MCS exhaust (read: not 3").

Anybody tried cutting off the bottom tube from the Alta downpipe and grafting it on to the ED pipe? That would prevent the bottleneck just aft of the cat. I'm certainly capable of cutting and welding, but perhaps someone has tried it and it won't work for some reason. Any idea?

Cheers,
Jeff

Yea really... if you like the performance and sound of your Alta turboback just wait for Riss Racing to release their O2 sensor sim!

Although, I have the exhaust depot DP and the Alta catback. It sounds bitchen, and it runs great. No cells yet, but I just put it on so I am with holding judgement. Great piece though

I too have the Alta catback. And I'm also wondering if and how to connect the Exhaust Depot DP to it. Any info would be of great help.

Are you using a section of the stock exhaust between the Alta catback and the exhaust depot DP?

You need to go to a muffler shop. You've encountered one of Alta's great surprises... not a true bolt-on.

yes I am. I had only the Alta catback, then I got the DP so I still have the center section like stock. Although I do plan on getting rid of that second cat.

Yeah, I was pretty shocked to say the least, when I relized I needed to cut the stock exhaust to make the Alta fit.

I don't think it's advertised as a bolt-on. You also do not have to go to a muffler shop. A hacksaw/sawzall/cutoff tool will make the single cut that is required!
