!@#$%^&*!!!

Ordered my car over 2 weeks ago, it was supposed to be done on June 4th, but it's still not yet complete (it's the 9th)! My MA's guess is that they're out of some part that I ordered & he hopes that the delay will be brief.

Me too!

Ok, rant over.

Your wait was only supposed to be 2 weeks!? Mine was more like 6 or 8, and I think that's what most MINI owners have to wait for.

I think he is talking about the production line. The majority of the time is spent on the boat and at the VDC.

I heard about that car. They put the engine in backwards and it is taking awhile to turn the interior around to match.

i'd say chill ....I wouldn't hold your MA to any date ...believe me they want to get you in your car -that's when the deal is done and they begin to collect their money (especially in this economy they want to sell cars).

I believe that they cut the amount of workers and shifts to better match the lower demand of production. I am sure you'll get your car. Mine was about a week late from what I remember ..yet they gave me a range of dates that it would be ready (i.e. June 10th - June 15th).

Yep... take a deep breath. I waited 11 weeks. About 4 for production, about 3 due to production / shipping issues, and the rest for transit...

meh. i waited THREE MONTHS AND TWENTY TWO DAYS for mine.

see my siggy below. i had to wait for the factory to do whatever equipment switchover to install the sport package (DTC). (i dunno--at the time i was so crazy with impatience and anxiety that my MA's explanation pretty much sounded like "wonkwonkfactorywonkwonkwonksportpackagewonkwonkwo nkwonkwonkTHREE MONTHSwonkwonkwonksorry!"

but i have my domina now and i love her absolutely.

I didn't even order Lewis at any particular busy time and it took from June 2 (order) 'till August 6 (delivery) to get him. It'll be ok.

When's the next ship? Tristan got on a ship the next day, Shawn just missed the same ship the next year, and the 3 weeks til the next ship was a killer.

Really the worst part about the wait isn't the production, but the boat. Maybe my boat was just special but I didn't get a whole lot of updates on it during that time until it hit the port in california. The production was easy because Mini kept that updated pretty nicely.

I was lucky.. I was living in Germany when I ordered mine.. so no real shipping time.. Ordered beginning of Nov.. delivered end of Nov... actual possession.. beginning of Dec.. Mine was on the last week build for 2006. The issue was when they are delivered to the dealerships in Germany.. they won't tell you where they are holding ( i say that because its like they are in prison) the car.. and you have to wait for the dealership to go over the car.. and then to find someone who speaks english well.. to show you your car so on and so forth.. the wait is like childbirth.. but oh so worth it..

It happens some times the date they give you is a little off. Mine came a 10 days earlier than what they said. My firends came 3 weeks late with no explination.

See the link in the first gear forum about tracking your MINI.

If your MINI is due on a WW ship have a look at their web site http://www.2wglobal.com/ and put your VIN in their Auto cargo tracking link.

If your MINI isn't on a WW ship, its a little more tricky.

Be glad it's still on the way. Years ago my 03 MCS got dropped while unloading it from the boat and was destroyed. It was sad, plus I had to wait for another car to be built.

I heard that production was delayed because the employee lounge ran out of tea and strumpets. It's tough to get production up if you can't find a strumpet.

Any wait can be hell. Especially when they give you a date and then it changes to a later date.

I ordered mine in July of 2002, and picked it up on Dec 28th of 2002! That was a weee bit long

Be patient - its worth the wait!

Nik
