Steering wheel control "pods" swap (MFSW)

I have an 09 MCSm, and was wondering if anybody had any thoughts on the feasability of switching the two pods on the MFSW. The reason I ask is, I have over 12 years with all of my cars previous having the radio controls on the right side, and the cruise on the left. Even after having drivin my MINI everyday since like October of last year, I am still sort of wired into those instincts.

This would obviously necessitate taking the Steering wheel apart (airbags, yikes!) but if it was possible, and the wiring harnesses were laid out like I think they are, it could be done. I didn't order the Bluetooth, so those two buttong on the left side are non-players to me.

Thoughts?

the controls may be upside down
or maybe you can take them apart and move the switches while leaving the bezels where they are?

You should be able to reverse them.Pulling the airbag is simple just disconnect the battery and stick a T25 torx driver in the hole on the underside and push up. The MF controls have a screw on the back of the wheel.

Wow, thanks for the answers. Not exactly how I pictured it, I saw them as more isolated, not part of the housing that they show them in. Although maybe they can be seperated.

So it looks like maybe the best way would be getting into the wiring harness and swapping things around. Plenty to think about there.

Thanks again.
