Couple of Alta boost gauge questions

Installed the Alta boost gauge today but two things drive me crazy:

The button rattles like a can of marbles over rough roads. What has anyone done to stop it?

The warning tone that comes on when you start the car - the instructions say push and hold the button to turn off the warning but I haven't figured out exactly when or for how long to push it. Any hints?

Same problems happend to me !!!

1. I installed a small O-ring behind the button to reduced the vibration and it help a lot.

2. You have to push that button hard from the begining until the end of the start ceremony.

When you say behind - do you mean behind the glass or just over the top of it and push it back the the glass?

thanks for the info to kill the noise

Just twist the lens cover a bit, it will put pressure on the button.

You have to hold the button down from before you turn the key till after the opening ceremony is complete.

got the warning tone gone *whew* The wife would not have put up with that!

Tried rotating the face and while it would turn a very little it isn't enough to stop the rattle. I'll try to find a small o-ring now.

Install the o-ring between the button and the glass, I dont know if they record the peak boost, mine does.

With the o rings installed is almost impossible to use the peak function but it better than the anoying noice.

hmm.. I'm rather fond of the peak boost function so I may look for another solution.

Give it a little more. Grab the housing, then turn the silver ring till the lens contacts the button.

one other trick that worked okay for me is to place a small dab of clear silicone under the pin and against the lens. just be careful not to get it everywhere or smear it on the lens.

I was thinking of this or maybe a short piece of thin rubber band wedged in between the button and glass.

I'd also heard about this problem. I've had dirty thoughts about getting a boost gauge and coolant gauge with Alta but have been strongly advised not to go with them for this part. I've been recommended that I should at least go with guages from Autometer without spending through the nose.

The nice thing about getting them from Alta is the kit comes with everything you need except the correct size extension wire (too heavy gauge), correct size wire taps (much too small to fit on the wires you tap), and clear instructions (you'll be puzzled although it is figure outtable)

I didnt have a problem with any wrong sized taps, or wrong sized extension wire. There was 2 different sized taps, and at first i thought the same thing about them being wrong sized, but i found the other taps.
