Clear roadside assistance stickers

Does everyone get these stickers on the windshield in the top/left corner?

Have you removed it? What's the best method without making a mess and/or leaving residue?

I'm not sure if this is what you're talking about, but there was some kind of clear sticker in the upper left hand corner on the windshield that I removed. Not sure if it was for roadside assistance, I thought it said something about using official MINI accessories. Anyway, I ripped it off and it left A LOT of residue behind. I just used some packaging tape to remove it. It took some patience and time, but the residue eventually came off.

Yes - that's exactly it. It looks like one of those stickers that will be a pain in the *** to remove, so I'm trying to get some advice before I tackle it.

A good way to get rid of adhesive on windows is window cleaner and steel wool. Doesn't damage your glass, and pulls the adhesive right off.

+1
I used packing tape on this one too, the glue was sticky enough on the back to come off pretty cleanly. Now my NY state inspection sticker, that was something else (see the thread in Detailing 101).

Just peel the sticker off with your finger use acetone or any nail polish remover to get the residue off. Takes 2mins and your done.

acetone or nail polish remover can harm anything other than glass when used. Next time try lighter fluid. The ether dissolves the glue fast and wont harm anything unless a fire is nearby HAHA

I've found Goo Gone to be excellent for this sort of thing.

Alrighty. A little "Goof Off" and a razor blade made short work of it. Followed up with some Invisible Glass and she looks so purty now.

Thanks for the suggestions!

The best product I've found for removing adhesive residue from hard surfaces is WD-40! It's not advertised for this, but works like a charm (no rubbing...it just dissolves the glue). To avoid spraying it everywhere, spray it into a small cloth rather than onto the adhesive itself, and then use the cloth to remove the adhesive.

WD-40 and duct tape: a complete toolbox!

Be careful with this. Sometimes it can have the same problems as using another solvent like Denatured alcohol or acetone. I would favor the razor blade method. I think mine just peeled off, I know that I took it off before I drove off the dealer lot.

I removed the sticker from my R57 a few weeks ago. No problems at all, it's not stretchy and left very little glue. After I removed the sticker, I just pressed the sticker back down on the couple of spots that had residue, they came right up. Clarity and a mf to finish up.

I kept mine on for a year ..then kind of noticed it one day and just removed w/ my fingers. There was minimal residue. A trick I learned a long time ago on how to safely remove sticker residue is to rub your forehead or nose and use the grease from your face then rub w/ your finger over the residue. It safely removes the sticker residue. Then remove any smears on the window w/ a soft cloth.

I'd avoid using steel wool on your window (as someone mentioned). It may be okay, yet steel wool is course and you'd hate to scratch your window.
Same w/ acetone, etc ...if you accidentally spill a drop of acetone on your dash your screwed.

Well, I tried peeling it off with my fingers and it started (a) shredding in little pieces, and (b) leaving a film of residue behind. So for whatever reason, I wasn't fortunate enough to have one that just peeled right off.

Anyway - as I mentioned above, a razor blade got all the sticker off. Then a little Goof Off on a paper towel and some scrubbing got rid of the residue.
