Drivetrain Cold side Alta boost tube install
Cold side Alta boost tube install
So I went and did it and what a pain in the ***. Most of it was in the stock part. My question for those who have installed it. The tube that goes off to the side before the throttle body, what is that? And it has a mild kin in it that I could not get out. It runs fine but will it effect long term? I am thinking of buying a shorter tube to get the kink out. My next install is the hot side which will go on Friday.
That's the tube to the trumpet like "noisemaker". That noisemaker is fed into the firewall. It tries to act like a BOV but myself and others assure you that it's definitely not. You probably won't notice much performance difference other than you won't hear the noisemaker activate until higher engine speeds because the pressure now has to overcome the kink in the line.
You should really consider buying the Helix 13 BOV and that will get rid of that useless noisemaker and actually get you in the market with a really good BOV.
Hot side tube is sooooooooooo much easier. I did mine in about 45 minutes compared to the 3.5 hours it took me to do the cold side tube with the Helix 13 BOV.

OK your car has a diverter valve on the turbo. The noismaker is not a BOV it just makes noise. I removed the whole tube going to the noisemaker and plugged it to give the boost a clearer path.
I thought the hot side was twice as hard as the cold
