I own a classic 75 Mini, does the club allow classics in? I also sell classic Minis too. Would love to join along with several classic mini friends!

Although this place is primarily for the New Minis, there are a few of us that've owned both and still speak the Archaic Language of the Classics ...
... maybe we can get a Forum here for just the Good Old Ones ...

We're more of an online forum than a club, although several regional forums on MCO have spawned active MINI clubs. Minis are always welcome, whether Austin or Morris, 850cc or 1275cc or whatever. Several MCO posters own classic Minis, and there is usually one or two for sale in the marketplace forum. Stick around and check out the site. I'm sure you'll find it to your liking.

 

Actually we are a real "flesh and blood" club, hmm maybe I need to rephrase that?

We at m2c2 welcome both the old and the new and would love to have you join in with the group.

A lot (few?) of us are heading to the Euro Autofest in Greenville, NC this weekend you're more then welcome to come along.

Our Pres and Sec are in the Charlotte area so drop them a line through the club's homepage at m2c2.org

P.S. I see from your bio you do IT work, well after a visit to the above noted website, you'll see we might need some help in that area.

Hey thanks for the invite. Actually I am going to Eurofest and have my Mini registered for the show saturday. I may also take you up on the club thing. I am currently a member of the Triumph Club of the Carolinas and their website editor. My other affliction/addiction is Triumphs, had a 60 TR3A and a 65 TR4a which got traded for the current Mini and promptly sent back to england once the Mini came off the boat!

Not sure I have a lot of time to devote to another website, I can hardly keep up with the triumph one <grin> but I could lend a hand! IT yes, more like MS employed for 12 years, does that counts as IT?

Look forward to meeting you at the show, I have a 1975 Red Mini with a union jack on the roof. Had a crazy time putting that on!

I’d just like to reiterate Smokey4’s point that the MINI Motoring Club of the Carolinas (or m2c2, as it’s sometimes known) is a real club. We are NOT a virtual club; we have officers, bylaws, dues, etc., and organized the recent MINI driving school at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. That’s not something a “virtual” club can do.

I hate to contradict MGCMAN, but our club was created before we got a forum on MCO, as were several others. There are “virtual” Mini clubs on the web, but we’re the real thing.

And yes, we welcome classic Minis!

M2c2 members are getting together tomorrow (Friday) for a drive up into the mountains north of Greenville in conjunction with the Eurofest and are meeting for dinner in downtown Greenville afterwards. We'll drive from the Greenville area up to Tryon and Saluda and visit some interesting roads in that area; we’d love to have you join us.

Thanks for the compliments on the website, FrontPage makes it too easy to put together and maintain, some purists will cringe at that but hey, I don't have the free time to mess with it and be THAT creative!! haha

Yes I maintain the classifieds and we put anything Automotive or things related to the automotive world up there for sale. Have a good hit count of about 2000+ per week when I manage to update it! LOL The truck is not mine although it is in my garage right now. I am good friends with a bloke in Norwich London/UK, he's had a Mini repair business for years there and I have recently convinced him to send some decent Mini's over to sell, the dude in Shelby is dealing very rusty non-MOT passing crap at high dollar marks and frankly .... there are better Mini's to be had at a reasonable price. I don't make money on the deals at all I just help him get the cars over here, pick them up in Charleston and help people see them. Another friend of mine has 2 more classics Minis and he makes the actual deals for Iain. My bene out of it is I get to drive a lot of classic minis' All right hand drive and it's a super pleasure

Any of you New MINI owners that have never been in or driven a classic true British Mini are more than welcome to take a spin in mine to see what started the maddness LOL

 

Hi Bill, I just caught your posts on here. Wish I had seen them earlier so I could have personally said "hi" to you at Eurofest. I did see your car though...nice one.

Sad to hear you had to trade off the TR3A. I don't know if I could have given it up. :smile: Talk about classic lines! I love those cars.

Yes, 100% my mistake. I failed to realize that this was posted in the Club Forum section rather than Mini Talk. No disrespect ment to M2C2 or any other of the real MINI clubs.

 

Sigh...unfortunately I had to miss Eurofest because I was in a wedding. So sad.
Well, it sounds like it was a blast...I'll have to make sure I say no to any future events held on Eurofest days, hehe.

Also, I hope Bill joins us...I'd love to have a classic Mini at our meets. I've been wanting to see one up close.

 

There you are, Stele. Was beginning to miss you on the forums. Only get to see a DS/B blurr going the other way on I-385 every so often..
I got lucky about 3 years ago and got to test drive a '74, left hand drive classic MINI. Fun to drive! However, it was a fixer upper, and I couldn't see forking out 4G's on a project car. It needed some bodywork, paint and had some electrical issues. The last thing I needed was another project!!

 

Wish I would have read this prior to Eurofest. I was parked right next to your red Mini. Did you put on the driving lights? What beautiful cars. Id love to see some classic minis on our drives. It makes me feel like Im driving an H2.

Back from vacation ! Boy it was great to meet some of you at the Eurofest! I thought it turned out great except for BC and his cronies showing up! Anyway I thought it was nice to see the mix of New and old Mini's and everyone could appreciate the differences of each!
