Drivetrain Looking for a JCW intake system
I'm in the same boat, tried ordering one.
It's no longer available seperately, Mini apparently wised up, so it's only available to order with the JCW stage 1 kit. It really sucks since there are no other quality cold air intakes... and don't get me started on the various HOT air intakes w/ the open filters under the hood.

call outmotoring! or ddm RAS. the PFB is just the same concept as the jcw right? line some heat/cool wrap in it and your good to go!
I do miss ''cold'' air intakes tho =[ good thing i have a DD =]

1fastmini had it on their site but its down now. I ordered one from them by phone and email, cracked open the box yesterday and what is in the box is the replacement kit, which is the same as stock on the R56S. I'm sending it back and he said he will get it swapped for the right part. I might just be pessimistic right now but I'm not so sure he or anyone else will be able to get the JCW intake by itself anymore.
The alternative 'real' cold air intakes on the market are the DDM Works RAS, M7 Tuning AGS-R, or Defenders of Speed CAI.

the DDM system looks like it was made in an industrial HVAC shop, the M7 AGS-R apparently has some rattle issues ?, and the DoS looks functional but hacked together ...
Hopefully we start seeing some v.2.0 releases soon.

The DDM kit looks much better in person to me than in the pics on their site. I was just checking one out on a MINI Friday night. It's what I will probably go for if the getting the JCW intake doesn't work out. I think the DoS one is a very neat design but with the cold air port where it is, it is probably the loudest intake on the market which isn't really what I would like in my daily driver.
here's a repost of the info I found (& ordered myself)
it's available by itself relatively cheaply from your Mini parts department (if you ask nicely). make sure to order both the airbox lid and gasket.

I was able to get one from Eddie at 1FastMini.net. He corrected the shipping mistake right away and resent me the right kit. I was able to find and PM him here originally to set up the deal since his website is down. Just clarify you are looking for the stage 1 JCW airbox so you don't get the wrong one like I did. The proper kit includes a replacement airbox top with the cone shaped air intake fitted to a flexible tube inside. I hear outmotoring sold it with the Alta cone filter. I don't recommend the Alta filter as it is just a little too big to fit well but I highly recommend an aftermarket filter since the OEM JCW filter looks very restrictive. The one Mini Madness sells looks like it will fit better. It woudl be worth the extra $40 over the Alta for that reason alone. I'm afraid I will break the mounting clips when I pull the Alta filter out next time to clean it.
I have heard from a few sources that MINI USA is no longer allowing the JCW airbox part of the stage 1 tuning kit to be sold a la carte. Mini Mania has it on their site but for an outrageous price of around $450. If that's the price now I'd strongly consider the Forge or K&N kits since they are similar in function and design and don't suck in any hot air.
After driving with the JCW kit for a few weeks, I can attest my car has retained the throttle response it had with the stock set-up, which was my most important criteria for an intake upgrade. I can now hear the turbo pressure diffuse at WOT shifts but it's subtle, not loud and constant like with the open or ram air systems. Acceleration is smoother and it has slightly more top end. It's exactly what I was looking for.
