Drivetrain Notchi-ness of Alta and Craven SSK's
Notchi-ness of Alta and Craven SSK's
Have only taken out the Mini twice since I got it, but I've noticed a lot of, for lack of a better word, 'slop' in the shifter. I just sometimes can't tell the gear I've just engaged (i.e. 3rd or 5th, 2nd or 4th). Aside from the shorter throw, do the Alta or Craven SSK's feel more notchy?
Thanks for the replies. Perhaps it's not 'slop' more so than the long throw (as someone stated in another thread, 'like a Mack truck'
) that makes it seem difficult to engage a gear. I dunno. Need to futz with it some more. Think an SSK would be good regardless with the option of adjusting the length.
Which brings me back to Craven vs. Alta. Crazy deal on the Alta this weekend with the 17% off, but I like the slightly easier adjustability of the Craven. Plus, if I go with the Craven shifter well, I don't want to run into the problems reported here with the Alta. Are these 'advantages' worth $60+? Oh, decisions, decisions.....
