wet carpet

could be a leak around one of the rear openings (hatch obviously but might also be the tail lights or center mounted brake light). Check the battery box for water. If water got in here it might corrode the connections enough to reduce full power to the air bag. Sounds kind of lame but the dealers solution to solving the corrosion problem is replacement of the battery cable.

thanks i took it in today and the diagnostic at a dealer is that the module is bad and needs to be replaced so its just $$ from here and i hope it stops soon its pretty spendy you cant use a used module because it has to be coded and just hat is almost $300 and $500 for the module plus labor and they r like 3 weeks out. Thank you for answering

PS how ever no one seems to know why my taillights stay on thats just a weired one

SRS Warranty Extension

my local dealer told me today, when I dropped my '02 off with an airbag indicator light stuck in the "on" position, that the airbag warranty has been extended to 125k for all '02-'03 models. Seems to be widespread. The guy behind me dropped his car off for the same thing, second time in a month. Happened to mine before a year or so ago.

That is true but that warranty only covers the seat harneses i guess that is the problem they have been having how ever the modules go out too but they r not covered they were supostu do recal on all of 02-03 minis but never did so there way of fixing it quietly was to extend the warranty

Your rear tail lights are staying on most likely because you have a faulty BC1 or Body control module. Its at the right side of the passenger footwell. Chances are that if the carpet was wet then the bottom 2 connectors on that module and the module got wet!! I would highly reccomend pulling that module and pull it apart. Stop the corrosion befor it gets BAD. I have had to repair many wires down there befor after being wet. Even if dry and you can't find anything wrong, the BC1 is still bad and thats why your lights are staying on in the rear.
