New Tires & Wheels for the girl - SM XXR-003 & Falken FK452s
Sport Max Superlight weight XXR-003 (forged aluminum)
18 x 7
45mm BS
15 lbs
Tires - Falken FK452 - 21535/R18

We went from the stock 17's with Khumo run flats to these. The stock set up almost at the wear bars weighed in at 48.9 lbs each these tip the scales at 36.4 lbs each
- nice unsprung,rotating mass reduction
With 4 runs up the canyon this weekend so far I love the tire for the price great dry grip for under 200 miles on them.

So I just ordered a new set of Yokohama S Drives as the Falkens were below the wear bars and one was actually showing cords on the inner band (I've been trying to get through this summer before replacing the summer shoes
) it did not happen
. I have the alignment set up aggressively for cornering.
First some feedback on the Falkens - GREAT tire for the price
.
Dry - outstanding grip cornering - the one downfall and it may not be the tire but the weight distribution of the car is that the back end feels like it wants to come around during aggressive cornering ( I'm talking about 80 to 100MPH in corners signed for 45 - 55MHP)- the front end sticks in the corner, entering is super crisp and responsive - turn in is quick and encouraging, trust this tire to the limits and beyond of most drivers ability. It just felt like if I pushed 5MHP more it would come around but again I think that had more to do with the weight distribution than the actual grip of the tire.
Braking and Acceleration - no complaints reliable and consitant - able to put you into your harness or seat.
High speed - we made a run to SanteFe NM going down HW 285 from Denver and will say this, the tires held up to extended times of 110 to 125MHP stints and some ruff roads. I feel that I pushed these tires hard that weekend and they took it all. Also spent a few Friday afternoons doing lapping Day's at HPR (High Plains Raceway)
Wear - ok -However, We put 1.75 summers on these and we live in the mountains west of Denver - the normal drive is down a twisty canyon road named Deer Creek Canyon RD which is 6.3 miles long and this was done at least twice a day plus the city mileage. I can tell you that we drove these tires hard in the canyon (it is a fun drive
). I can't give exact mileage but would guestimate about 17K mileage from them - again not bad for the price.
Wet - I never really pushed them in the wet corners hard so I will not give feedback on that - I do know that in the wet I could spin them as much as I wanted under full throttle accel.
Would I buy them again - yes they are a great tire for the price point. I will be interested to see how the Yoko's compare and I will add a review and comparison once I run them for a few. I hope this is helpful
Happy motoring
