R56 What kind of option / package you wished you had ordered?
What kind of option / package you wished you had ordered?
I am wondering, which option or package you wished you had ordered when you bought your car?
i talked to a friend and he said he wished he had ordered the upgrade audio package because he wasn't happy with the stock system

I have owned both the upgraded audio and the stock audio. for $500 and you can much better w/ aftermarket.
Back to your question: Rear Fog Lights. But besides that, Hailey is my perfect Mini.

You know? I agonized for days, weeks, months over the Miniusa configurator. And was so worried that I would regret some of my choices, but I love Sloopy just as she is. Love, love, love her,,,,
What I'd like to get is a BlueTooth option for Tristan. When we ordered the only BlueTooth option came with the silly centre armrest, so we didn't go for that. We got Shawn with the BlueTooth/USB option (no arm rest) and love that.
Yeah I think that I should have ponied up for the bluetooth/ipod adapter. I don't mind just using the aux in but it would have been nice to get integrated BT for phone and having "integrated" ipod/USB controls. I didn't want the silly armrest either and, frankly, was not aware that ipod.BT came without it. Too many options sometimes....
That said I'm not losing sleep over it.

I love Frodo, but if there was a next time.... (not sure if these options are still under the same names or in packages) These are only my opinions!
Don't bother with:
Auto Air - the car is small and the controls are next to your right hand
Alarm - there is an electronic key and nobody reacts to the sound anymore
Upgraded wheels - buy aftermarket
Upgraded stereo - buy aftermarket
Only if you love/need it:
Sunroof - a source of problems
LSD - a must for competition, but may aggravate torque steer
Cold Weather package - nice warm butt
Chrome options - get them now if you like chrome
My "for sure" options:
Xenons - they light up my world
Rear Fog Lights - the fill up and round out two spaces, dash toggles and rear bumper area. They are bright and can be seen when approaching from the rear.
White indicators - who would have thought something so small could make such a difference?
Interior color options - pick what you like without regard to cost, it is what you will see the most. I love the anthracite head liner with piano black dash.
MFSW - radio buttons? They are 6 inches away on the dash, but it is the only way to get cruise
Leatherette - not an option, but a choice. Many people ask how my leather is holding up. They look great.
Rubber floor mats - OK, I'm from the Pacific Northwest..... but I like the utilitarian look.
The nice thing about the whole process is that you can't really go wrong on your MINI, only spend lots more money as you add options.
The packages are only good deals if you actually want everything that they include.

I thought the HiFi was better than the "stock" option. It sounds great with CDs and iPod with good bit-rates. I would only skip the HiFi unless you knew you definitely wanted to spend the bucks on an aftermarket set-up.
My only "regret" is very minor... wish I got USB/Bluetooth but not losing any sleep over it either. I am not even 100% it was available when I ordered my 2008 model.

It didn't in 07, it did in 08. Its the USB/BlueTooth option, rather than the "Comfort Bluetooth" option which comes with the silly armrest.
I'm quite happy with all of my choices. The key thing is what do you think you'd enjoy? Yes, the hi-fi isn't great for audiophiles, but it sounded great to my untrained ears up until about 60% volume.
Just remember that installing OEM equipment after the fact will result in invoices that make you go
For instance, I was interested in getting illuminated door sills in my 2008 MCS. The sills were priced like they were on the configurator... but didn't include labor, which ended up making the total cost about 4 - 5 times the price of the sills. I passed.
I think Ferris would've been happier with GDC (Guardrail Distance Control
).

My opinion is the auto air is the best option there is, its the one thing I really miss when I drive a MINI without it. The controls may be close to hand on the manual version, but I'm constantly fiddling with them.
I wish I would have gotten the S. I took one out as my loaner and fell in love with the turbo. Thinking about upgrading next year. But otherwise, I love the packages and options I chose.
Bluetooth/USB integration is very nice, and you can use the buttons on the MSFW. I wish my MA had tried to talk me into it. He got me with the rear foglight, which I like.
I'd probably get Xenons next time around.

Plenty...
I wish I could afford to order the Premium and Convenience Packages. Also, Xenons and Driving Lights would have been nice. But the option I'm really kicking myself over is the white turn signals. I tried to be very frugal building my MINI, but is $100 over 5 years really going to break the bank? I realized after I placed my order that it certainly would not.
I only have myself to blame...
I really ordered my MC with a budget in mind and tried to stick to what I needed, which is iPhone/iPod integration. Oh yeah, and the leather. I needed the leather.
This certainly isn't the last MINI I'll own, so I will make sure there are no regrets or wishful thinking on that car.

As far as what Id add, I'd white-out the amber turn signals and add the bluetooth/usb, that is it.
Sorry that I got the Xenons (they were in a package). On low-beam they over-illuminate the area in right in front of the car. This causes your eyes to adjust to the bright area -- limiting your ability to see beyond their cutoff. On country roads with oncoming traffic, this is a problem. Xenons are nice at high-beam settings, but it is rare in California to have long stretches with no oncoming traffic.
Glad I got the heated seats. It isn't the butt-warming I like, it is the back warming. Very nice!
Auto-air conditioning works for me. Set it and forget it. The controls are so low on the dash that I don't like taking my eyes that far off the road while driving.
Wish I had opted for Redwood Lounge Leather. Wasn't able to see it before ordering it. Later saw it at the dealer and really like it. Reminds me of British sports cars of the 1950-60's. The cloths seats aren't bad, but wish they had an adjustable lumbar support like the Lounge Leater seats.
Glad I got the NAV. Wish the USB option had been available in 2007.
