Anyone convert ipod jack to regualr aux?
so I have an 02 MCS, no HK but I do have an ipod hook up in the car. the wire goes to my glovebox.
The question is, if there is a wire out there (or a different solution) so I can quickly change this from the uber nice ipod hookup, to playing any other device (3.5mm stereo jack, or RCAs etc)
Please let me know what anyone has come up with

You mean using one of these:
http://www.google.com/products?q=rca...l=en&scoring=p
(RCA to 1/8" headphone cables?).
Pretty cheap and plentiful.

I think you are saying that you have an iPod adapter (I assume it's the one from MINI), and it has a dock connector that plugs into the bottom of the iPod. You want to plug something else (such as an mp3 player or satellite radio) into the iPod dock connector. I have never heard of such a cable adapter and I'd be surprised if anybody made one because I just can't imagine any demand for it.
Most people would simply add an aux input cable to the headunit, which can be used independently of the iPod adapter. However you have an '02, and aux input capability was not added to headunits until '03.
I think you have the following options (probably none as quick and easy as you had hoped):

I think you have the following options (probably none as quick and easy as you had hoped):
- Replace your headunit with an '03 or newer headunit ($75-$200 on eBay). Make sure that you find out the manufacture date printed on the unit. You can connect your iPod adapter to it, and add an OEM aux cable (about $40).
- Replace your iPod adapter with a DICE iPod adapter (like this, $160). The DICE is both an iPod adapter and has its own aux input. Your '02 headunit can't display text from the DICE unit (artist/title etc), but since you can't see that information currently you won't miss it.
- If you no longer need the iPod adapter, you can disconnect it and install this aux cable in its place (this one works on an '02): http://www.newministuff.com/new/shop...uctshow&id=180
