MINI at a Street Rod Show???

You Bet!!!

We did a Street Rod Show here in town with our '40 Ford Tudor Sedan today and what parked right next to us??

I couldn't believe it. MINI headlights on the most impressive Glass Rod in the place.

Tooooo Funny!

The rest of the rod just in case you were wondering what the rest of it looked like... nothing MINI about it.

Great choice. Retro enough to look right, space age enough to look awesome.

What's the story behind those stick-on engine vents anyway? I usually see them in sets of three, so I don't know if the owners are going for a "Maserati look" or what, but any time I see them all I can think of are the Buicks from the 40s and 50s.

Believe or not, we're lookin' at a 135,000 dollar rod! Those "pep boys" ovals are actually functional. Whether they function to the point of really getting heat away from the engine....? The street rod folks are alot like Mini folks, meaning there aren't too many rules to follow when it comes to personalizing and enhancing the cars. Sometimes there's a fine line between right and wrong or just plain tacky. We saw a couple of Minis at AMVIV this year that fell into the last category. (just our opinion of course) But if the owner thought it was the right thing to do to his or her car, that's all that matters.
The one thing that Mini owners and Rod owners are alike is everybody is there to have fun and hang with other car fanatics. Unlike the Porsche club that we no longer belong to (over 20 years) where the egos of some are out of control. Its all about status.
