Drivetrain how fast can they go?
My girlfriend wants a Cooper S if the VW r32 takes longer than another 5 months to come to the states.
Her and i drove a stock S and a John Cooper(i think?) modified S. The John Cooper was quite a bit faster than the stock S but it's a very pricey kit. The salesman wasnt totally knowledgable on what was included in the kit, but from what i figured it was a smaller pulley, chip, and exhaust. Are they any more modifications available for the S to make it even faster than the one i drove? Forgive me, for i am pretty new into the scene. I come from the land of Mofifying VWs and Audis. Links, pictures, or anything will be much appreciated. thank you.

I've had the JCW kit for about 2 months and love it, however it was quite expensive. Includes 15% smaller pulley, catback exhaust (with cool tips
), chip, new supercharger, ported and polished head, JCW badges, and Mike Cooper certificate of authenticity.

Kyle,
My S has the reduced pulley, ECU upgrade, and Madness intake. In September on the way down to So. CA I had it at +/- 137mph on Hwy 5 with pedal left to go. I am not sure how fast your GF wants to go, but for the money, with mods, this is a very fast car.
And it ws a nice smooth ride............

Buy a Cooper S, get a 15% pulley or even a 19% pulley, an airfilter, some exhuast, Software Upgrade (Mini's do not get chipped), and soem brakes and you will have a nice quick car.
The R32 is a very nice car but with Vw's quality as of late I have been turned off buy Newer Vw's.
Give me an Old Rabbit or ealry jetta any day

hehe, i totally understand but this is coming from the mini cooper's engine which had design help from chrysler. Also, we're niot looking for top speed but more of just all around performance. We both attend Scca Autocross's for our past time. And we're very confident this car can outperform most in between the cones. Thank you for your advice guys, much appreciate.

Well look at what chrysler has doen with it's own turbo engine.
The handling on the car is awesoem and with a few choice items (rear bar, Springs, control arms, or what ever else you fancy) you will have an excellent handling car. the car runs rich from the start so a smaller pulley does not starve the car for fuel (even in the tests with the 19% reduction pulley)

Why the secracy? Helix touts that their pulley can be changeable, so others must be doing, except I have never heard anyone doing it. How much boost/horsepower are they making? Do they have to lower the redline to stay within the tolerances of the supercharger? Come on give us something.
I'd give doug some breathing room.
Most vendors have adopted 15% after trying P&D's 10% and 15% switchable pulley (someone has probably even put a 0% back on so they can race in STX).
Anyhow, due to concerns about the waterpump and the redline of the supercharger, 15% made a lot of sense as a "safe" level of additional RPM.
So, if Doug is working on 19% and so far it's good, let him have the space to adequately test it. Thank him for taking the time to do so. As far as what the HP gain is from a 19% vs. 15%, I'm sure that Doug will have that information (maybe he does now) and will release that type of information when he bears out whether or not the 19% pulley is a robust design worth bringing to market.

Oooo, 19% pulley I want that NOW. A 19% pulley would give more torque where I can use it. Forget about redline and (the non existant) water pump concerns, I drive between 2 and 6 thousand RPM and want the grunt. C'mon Doug, just a little hint!!!!!
