HELP!! Need belt tensioner tool!
HELP!! Need belt tensioner tool!
OK guys in the Charlotte NC area. I am in a jam. I did the Alta 15% pulley exchange today and now I can't get the damn ternsion to release. When I took it off, I just let it extend. By using a hydraulic press at my office, I was able to recompress the spring and put a small allen wrench in there to keep it open while I finished the work. In the end, I can't get the wrench back out. There seems to be a special tool to compress the tensioner spring to get the darn thing out. As you can understand, I don't really want to pay big bucks for 10 seconds of use.
So...I am hoping one of you has made this investment and in return for a case of beer, would be willing to loan it to me so I can get back to motoring.
So please help a fellow Cooper owner.

Would love to help, but this is a job that I just have someone with all the right tools do. Hope you can find someone. We had issue at DRAGON where someone put on pulley, didn't have the right tools and ended up breaking the belt tensioner, then that had to be replaced. Good luck!
Well I have to give kudos to Hendrick Mini. I had my car towed over there this morning and they corrected the belt routing and released the tensioner. Total cost $0. Thanks to AAA and the kind people at Hendrick, I am back on the road with an extra boost of HP!!
Great news! Yes the folks at Hendrick relly go out of there way to help our club members. Hope you enjoy the pulley, now for the header and borla exhaust! 2nd KUDOS to Hendrick. I will be down there today bumming.
