My New Carbon Fiber Custom Intake

its very similar to the forge intake. Only its larger, has a larger filter, and has a cool funnel type thing in the air intake part and on the inside around the filter part. It is kind of backwards, it sucks the air in the opening and it has three bent blades on the inside of the housing to control and smooth out the air. Its hard to explain but it looks like it would be both efficient and effective. Here are some Pics of my old DYI DOS intake and then the new one. The old one is a hack job so no comments are needed. but it worked well

you're in cali, don't you need to worry about smog and having carb approved intake/exhaust parts? i know the honda world gets bothered all the time about this stuff... roadside ramps and stuff where they inspect your car, if you have illegal parts, they'll impound your car...

nice work though, I thought that the forge part looked like the BMC CDA when I first saw it. notice any difference?

Thanks, I haven't had to much chance to drive it yet. Just a quick spin. It seemed smoother. They dont seem to bother mini drivers like they do honda guys. I dont know why?

i doubt mini's are known for being as dangerous and not "street racers"...

mainly, I think it's because they haven't made it into "fast and the furious"

that looks like a pretty tight fit in there.

I was curious, what kind of life expectancy do you expect from the CF being placed under the hood?
I'm in Phoenix and have a CF Bonnet with a CF scoop and the scoop started to warp after only a month. So I put my uber scoop back on.

?? Never in my decade+ of driving my acura have I seen a roadside ramp or any sort of inspection point. Save for where you get busted for street dragging, and those guys deserve to get impounded.

i'm searching for the pic... I'm on a honda board, stayed there for off-topic purposes since i know most of the guys and there's no retarded rules about cursing or being politically correct, anything goes, and i mean anything...

that's besides the point, but one of the guys drove by one and snapped a photo of it. apparently later that day he got flagged for one on a different road.

seriously. it's great. tons of political incorrectness, tons of derogatory comments, etc. it's all in fun though, no one is actually serious. I have met quite a few of them in person, pretty cool bunch.

Thanks for the info.

I was just wondering how you would be able to tell if your new setup will give your car better breathing?

I am not sure why you would want CF intake its kinda pointless. But non the less it looks good. And I am on a Spec V forum for off topic and trying to sell some parts and they are almost everything goes minus the hate bashing like racism and sexism and stuff like that. This place is a little upscale to good for things like that.

The Carbon Fiber was just a bonus. I live in the LA area and when your stuck in traffic the heat under the hood is crazy. I wanted a cold Air Intake and my buddy had this laying around so I got it cheap. I have it sealed up now so it is a sealed, charged system and its lighter than stock (bonus) and it looks cool. I am getting more low and midrange torque also. It seems to be smoother to. The system was designed to be a closed system. I know everyone says who cares, but it does seem to like it better. Now if I lived in a different city without the CRAZY traffic and heat it wouldnt matter. Sometimes its 114 out and you are only doing 3mph on the freeway for 2 hrs just to go 6 miles (no I am not kidding)I would have kept my Alta(still for sale cheep) But I dont. It feels better anyway.Thats what my but tells me anyway. (on a side note, I need to stop talking to my but)

Ya I didn't see the ducting the 1st time and that is a true cold air intake. +1 for ingenuity. Though you might want to secure the intake side of the filter with a band or that least a zip tie. Also its a good idea that you have the other piping too that will help with keeping heat soak down. That kinda traffic you just need to start riding a bike a 6 mile bike ride would only take you 20 to 30min way better then 2hr. Ya and suck it up when it comes to the heat its could for you makes you feel alive.
