Help with a design project

Hello all!

I would greatly appreciate some help completing surveys for my entrepreneurial class. The survey is in reference to canine waste disposal. So lets get all of you dog owners to fill this thing out!

Thanks in advance! Link: Survey

Oh, and I just picked up my 09 Horizon Blue MCS last Thursday...

But if you do, it might end up on your shoe.

Nice MINI Brian, hope to see you on some of our rides.
BTW - TheBlackBrian sounds so medieval and Monty Pythonish. Keep it.

Thanks! And thanks to all who have completed the survey.

Does anyone happen to know the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?

Brian- Just did the survey. An interesting concept! I wonder though... it is my understanding that dog waste is only unhealthy when contaminated with parasites. We worm our dogs for all the common worms year-round, and usually for giardia as well. So I would suspect that under these conditions the treatment wouldn't be necessary.

So, I'm not sure I'd be interested in such a device at home but I think it would be a grand idea for parks, etc. since there's no way of making sure people worm their dogs and also because parks are shared-use by humans and canines alike. I wonder if it could be a concept for the cities to adopt?

Just a thought.

I was considering installing it in the back yard and getting rid of our toilets. Was that taking the concept too far? Think of the money to be saved on water. It would be a little embarrassing to use one in a park though.

Canine feces does contain a lot of harmful bacteria as well as parasites. Its unfortunately not like cow dung were you can just use it as fertilizer. From my initial research it has something to do with both diet and biology of their system.

I have also gotten a lot of feedback saying it would be great in parks. I had thought about that when I was developing the idea. It wouldn't be too hard to covert it to a more industrial size system.

Love the idea! I may have missed it but will this help with smell? I have 2 big dogs and that is the worst part of it! I picked up a dipper bin just for that reason. I'm with the others for parks also think it would be nice in condo/townhome areas. Even in my area (kind or rural) we have pet stations with a can and bags which is great but still have to pitch the bags in the trash. Again the smell on a hot day around the cans is BAD!

Enzymes are added (which are included with the degradable inserts for the scoop) when you throw the waste into the bin. They both aid in decomposition and cut the smell.

So when I lived in Tulsa I had dug a hole in the backyard and placed a perforated plastic garbage can in it. This is where we tossed our dog waste. About once a month I just threw in the live bacteria that you buy if you have a septic system and filled with water.
Greenest part of the yard and no oder. Guess I should have patented that idea but I hereby give it to you Brian.
(oh and BTW, we kept our inside toilets)
