Activating Bluetooth in a Premium Stereo

Hey Fellow Motorers,

I just bought a BRG/B 2008 R56. (LOVE IT!!) It has a premium stereo (not the Harmon Kardon) and multi function steering wheel, both of which have buttons for phone, however the bluetooth is not activated. The Mini does NOT have Nav, the USB next to the Aux port, or the iPod connector in the glove box. Nor am I interested in getting those features. When I search for a bluetooth network with my phone in the car...nada.

I do NOT want the phone connector in the armrest deal as I use an iPhone for music and Nav-ing as well. Not to mention I just installed a sweet ProClip holder right next to the CD above the glove box, keeping the iPhone uber convenient for selecting songs, etc. And I can just use the power from the cigarette lighter.

What does the dealer need to do to activate the bluetooth??

OK, so I chatted with the dealer and he said that since my stereo doesn't list "phone" as an option after pressing the menu button, bluetooth cannot be activated on my system, or rather, it just doesn't have it. What are my options now?

I'm checking out a Parrot system (CK3100). Anyone with experience with these? How is the install?

Hey. Buttons on your MFSW for the phone are just dummy buttons sadly, if you don't have the bluetooth package.

Don't feel bad though-- bluetooth is overrated unless you are constantly using the phone in the car. Besides-- there is a good chance that your phone might not be supported. I have a phone that is only 6 months old and I will not be able to use it in my new MCS when it arrives. I am not too torn up about it though.

Good luck exploring your options! The world is your oyster!
