**PICS** Couple of small interior mods

Carrying the checkered theme throughout the interior just a bit more.

First, for the newbs who may not have seen these pics I've posted about a hundred times, a couple of shots of my CR MINI just to get the idea of my overall theme:

Okay... for those of you who may have been a product of an incestual marriage , this MINI is all about the checkers !

So, just a couple of small interior mods as I try to balance the interior and exterior of the car.

A ten-second install that covers up the holes in the door ovals:

And... although I had installed the "Cooper" badge on the dash before, it lacked something. I think it looks a lot better now:

I also bought THIS from Moss MINI:

...and although it says they made it to fit the 06 Cooper, it's too small. I thought about centering it, but I'm thinking it would not look good. Probably going to send it back unless someone wants to purchase it from me at cheaper shipping than you could get from Moss. Appears it will only fit the earlier model Coopers.

Anyway.... back to thinking of my next interior mods. Might do just a couple more.

Great looking MINI!
If I may make a suggestion... stop while you're ahead.
By the way, great looking garage. I especially like your football rack!

If I do any more checkers, they will be other small things. If you saw the MINI in person, you'd know it's not over done. I've seen some that were and I'm careful not to go to far with the checkers. I've had some suggestions from others to add checkers and I've balked for that reason.

Thanks on the garage compliment. And the football rack... that was a rack installed by the previous homeowner for something (??). The football just happened to fit there and my son uses it frequently so it works. Same deal with the baseball bat. How about the hammer ??

never cease to amaze me. I love the cooper dash! Nice use of the smaller eyes. Did you buy an extra badge or did you de-badge?

Still trying to figure out what you can do with a wheelbarrow, hammer, football, 2 car mats and an electrical cord. All you need now is WD 40 and duct-tape and you can solve any problem out there.

PS. Loving the checkers It matches the floor!

Ahhh...an eye for details. Maybe TOO MUCH of an eye for details.

Thanks... actually, the floor matches the MINI and the model MINI display case matches the floor and the wallpaper border matches the display case. See how that works ??

Even though i am not the biggest checkered fan to start with, i have to raise my hat to any owner that puts great effort in customizing his MINI with taste and detail...

Nice work! Make sure you stop before it's too late though

Looks good! I like it all *except* for the eyes...they're a little over-the-top for me. But overall I love everything else you've done!

Hmm, I wonder what a completely checkered Mini looks like.

I don't think that's ever been done, but I've seen some pics of MINIs here on NAM that have come pretty darn close !

Cute.

Just FYI, here's a list of the checkered items on my CR Cooper:

License Plate Frames
Grille Badge
Under Bonnet Eyes
Side View Mirror Caps
Rear View Mirror Cap
Wheel Center Caps
Valve Stem Covers
Roof
Door Sill Plates
Warning Label Covers
Inner Door Handles
Inner Door Plugs
cOOper Eyes On The Dash
Whalen Shift **** Insert

Over done ? Nope. Because, other than the roof, everything is pretty small and the checkers surely don't overwhelm you from a distance, or up close.

Thanks, Boomer.

Yeah... I can be pretty sure there's not one like it in the world.

And, ohhhhhhhh yeah, he's loved and well taken care of. He's a daily commuter, coming up on three years old and 40,000 miles. Yet when I show him off to people in person, they think it's a brand new car.

Those come from Aesthetic Creations. And yes, they have UJ ones as well. Or at least they did three weeks ago when I ordered a pair for my JB Convertible.

It's no bother !

I got my door sill plates from Mike (Aesthetic Creations) also. Both of mine are custom made. I'm not sure if he has any "stock" plates with the UJ design on them.

Warning: Mike is really busy these days and even items in stock are taking over a month to arrive. Custom items, especially door sill plates, will take longer... don't be surprised if it's a few months. The door sill plates go through a doming process that apparently is not easy. But trust me, the quality is top notch and you'll love them every time you open a door.

BTW, here are the other door sill plates he made for me:

And hey, if you like UJ stuff for your door, here's another option:

Thank you!!! I saw that UJ for the door, ,but have decided to try and get the oval done in the hyper blue.. not sure who is doing those these days. The person that I knew was doing them is no longer. After looking at your checker pictures, I decided last night I was going to work on my UJ portfolio lol. I think I have reached close to the max number of UJs allowed by the United Federation of UJ usage committee lol. I am working on getting the blue interior LEDs, and then of course my other mods this month. Once I pull the hyper blue and a few more jacks inside.. well then time to look at another mini. My husband has a pw 08, but he won't let me stickerize it.. ah.. yes.. I did think of another question, your shift cover and ebrake cover.. that would look purty sweet in grey and blue!! was it hard to install? Do you know if Mike is going to be on the Dragon this yr?

You're welcome !

Oh yeah, I looked into having my door ovals painted once. It was wayyyyyy to expensive for me to warrant having it done.

There's a limit on the number of UJs you can put on a MINI ??? Somebody better go tell BlimeyCabrio before the United Federation of UJ Usage Committee puts out a wanted poster with his face and MINI on it !!

All three of our MINIs have custom shift boots. All three came from a vendor who advertises here frequently--Redline Goods. The quality is great. The boots are not too tough to install. On a scale of 1 to 10 with a 1 being a shorty antenna and a 10 being a new transmission ... I rate the boots a 4. Of course, the first time I did a pair, I would have said a 6. They're just a little tricky, especially the e-brake boot. But you can do it. Just follow Redline's instructions.

Not sure if Mike is coming to the Dragon this year. He doesn't post around here much anymore. Maybe somebody else will read this and chime in.

Have a good day and Happy Motoring !

Uh oh! I may be getting close to the limit, too. (Maybe the fact that they're not "original" UJ's may get me a pardon. )
