hey NAM.

so i opened up my 05 mini s from the passenger side today and felt something diffeent. the edge of the exterior door handle is beginnig to bubble a little bit, which i know will start to peel with more use of it. im still under 50k but my 4 years ended on the 19th of this month. what should i do? do you think the mini warranty will still cover it?

Try calling your dealer, they might work something out with you.

 

Try calling MINIUSA, and present your case.
I would think they'd be willing to do something out of goodwill, since you're only a week out of warranty.
On second thought, like Saturn said, call the dealer first, and give them a chance.

Go runing to the dealer they should replace this handle..there is no reason for this to happen...

 

I never had this happen with 4 MINIs owned over a period of 7 years. The door handles in our cars are chromed plastic, not real metal. The gas cap on pre-2007 Cooper S MINIs is made of real chromed metal, however.

Run this by the dealer and see if you can get the handle replaced as a "goodwill" gesture. I have heard of this problem before but it isn't very common at all.
