Hey all you M2C2 members. I talked to George Kail and he would like to know if we can get a group together for this Monday The 30th. They are having a Comedy Night event in Cornelius and would like to know if we can have 10 people there to present the money to Doug Herbert. He will also have his Drag car there and the press will be there for the event.

Wanda Miller is the President of the Speedway Club and still wants to have the second event be at one of the Wednsday night meetings.

Would love to John.. issue is.. it would be a long long day for David.. waking up at 5.. then out till 11 driving up and back .. same for me.. but we will be there in spirit.. I am proud of the donation being made... kinda wondered what the result of the special meeting was.. no email here... hm.. do we count down here?

 

Just got back in town after being in California for my Dad's memorial. We weren't here for the meeting. When I know what the meeting result was it'll get posted. It would appear the issue passed which is great.

 

Did we change charities? What is Brakes Charity?

 

Chris, sorry to hear about your father, I hope you are working through it, and doing okay in spite of it.

 

Brakes is one of the Charitys that Speedway Childrens Charity gives to. It was an idea to put a more public face on the clubs activities.

 

Time and place....

I just spoke with George Kail and the event is at the Comedy Zone in Cornelius, doors open at 7:00pm and show ends at 10:30pm. We'll be allowed to have up to 10 people for a free dinner, 2 drinks and show featuring The Killer Beaz. I'll need to let George know by tomorrow how many will be there. Since I'm the Prez I guess I have to go.
The address is 17044 Kenton Dr., Cornelius, NC 28031 and is upstairs at the Galway Hooker Irish Pub.

We had 9 folks show up which was cool, especially for all the celebrity types that got to hang out with us. A fun tme was had by all. The $1,000 the club gave was much appreciated.

The B.R.A.K.E.S. Foundation was formed following the deaths of Doug Herbert's 2 sons, James and Jon, last year in a car accident. Friends of the boys came up with the name which is an acronym for Be Responsible And Keep Everyone Safe. Their mission is to stem the tide of teen deaths in car accidents, which number around 6,000/year, by holding defensive driving schools for teens at no cost.

 

Great job guys! Glad that you finally got this together. I talked to George last week as I was travelling thru Utah. Of course Carol, use guys always preciated! Hope you can come up for the next donation event? I don't think it has been posted yet, just started checking the board.
