MINI emblems delete, shaving

hey guys, i was cleaning the MINI the other day, and was thinking that it would look really clean without the two MINI emblems on the bonnet and the boot. I have intentions to remove the "Cooper s" as well, but i am wondering if the "MINI" logos are bolted in, or if they just have that super glue that many other manufacturers use?

I have shaven many cars before, and most turn out nice. I dont have stripes on the bonnet, so i think the solid color would look great. Plus, the emblems tend to rip up my microfiber towels if you know what i mean.
So, has anyone removed them? or replaced them and know if they are bolted or glued?

well, they are not really bolted, there are no bolts or screws there, but once you remove them they leave a couple of holes. What you could do though is to order custom-colored replacements from Aesthetic Creations (I ordered matte-black ones)

It's worth it

I think it looks so much better debadged -- I have not removed the emblem on the boot - Will be starting to dechrome as much as I can this spring.

did you use bondo and then repaint?

Id love to completely debadge the car but i cant deal with the holes.

The "Cooper s" emblem is just held on with double sided foam tape.

Had to have a little front end work done - so had the body shop weld the holes closed and repaint.

I deleted the cooper S emblem from the rear and put on a cooper s license plate, car looks much cleaner. I don't know about the mini badges, that'd be a pain in the butt.

definitely cleaner when its shaved but i cant justify the cost right now... if i was going in for other body work that required paint (JCW bodykit??) id have this done along with it for sure.

I like it clean too. I don't have my MINI yet but would like to ask a question - do they have a little can of touch-up paint when new car comes from the factory? I am good at bodywork and can easy fix any hole.

i know bavarian autosport sells touch-up paint to match every BMW and new mini color, and it's probably at the dealers too. all you need to know is the color code. for example, my mini is indi blue, so my paint code is 862, bavarian autosport can hook me up, i think clearcoat and paint both for under $60 before shipping.

What colour is your car. That doesn't look like Pepper white , more of an Aspen white?

Anybody have an idea how much it would cost to plug the holes in the hood and retouch the paint? Also, any recommendations for a body shop on or near Orange County? Thanks.

Filling the holes isn't a problem. It's repainting that's going to cost you. Especially if you've got a metallic paint like Astro Black. You cannot use touch up paint, you'll have to paint the whole front end to blend it back in. The blend will never be absolutely perfect but might be good enough, otherwise you'll want the whole bonnet repainted.

I have Jet Black which is easier to retouch, but I still had the whole bonnet reshot.

Bummer. That will cost a pretty penny, considering I do have Astro Black. What if I have some knicks in my bonnet from rocks from big rigs on the freeway, and I want to get the bonnet touched up, will insurance cover this? I'm not making this up either, I do have 4-5 rather large knicks in the paint from rocks.

^^oh no, now i'm scared. besides the price, would this require me to re-do my bonnet stripes too? because if that's what it's gonna take, i might be joing the no-stripes owners club for a few months.
