R52 Finally bought one
Finally bought one
I finally went out and bought my first Mini. I have been struggling with the decision for months, but couldn't resist. It is a 2008, blue with a black top. I was amazed at how well this car handled, how quick it is and how quiet it is considering it is a convertible. I signed the papers today and will pick up the car on Tuesday. I can't wait. Well, I'm glad I bought it and I hope that I can be an active contributor to this forum.

Outstanding decision! Welcome to NAM-MINI-land from Madison, WI.
You will have to name your new ride, and try to keep the smililng in control as you motor on!
We will be curioous as to where you are from, why you chose a mini, and any other extremely personal data you are willing to share with us all...

Finally have a picture
Thanks for your kind words everyone. Finally have a picture to post. I haven't done this before so I hope it works. It's been about a week since I picked it up and love it. The car is loaded. About the only thing it doesn't have (that I wish it did) was the JCW strut tower braces. I figure in about a month or two I'll get them and install them.
Thanks

Thanks Bigsoup. My son and I are still trying to come up with a name for it. We are from New Jersey. My son is on his learners permit so I figured I'd get this car so he can have my truck. I figured it was time to get something fun to drive. It has been a long time since I had a "fun" car to mess around in. The truck is fun to drive in the snow, but, I was dying for a sporty, capable open car to drive around in.
Hi rmcqcc
congrats on the new to you cabrio. I have an 07 MCc and love it. I would look over the top very good and see if you see any wear marks on it. They first appear as white marks on the top, you will know if you have them. Other than the top wearing on my 07 I love the car, it is going into the dealer for a new top on Monday coming up.
Also where in NJ are you there is a group of us that meets in Hamilton NJ exit 7a off the turnpike monthly for a get together and good times. We are all over the state, some from Burlington area, some from Hightstown and a couple from Jersey City. Check out the MONJ forum on NAM for some more info. We are meeting this Sunday in Florence NJ to go to the annual PhillyMini meeting in Philadelphia. There web site is phillymini.org you can get some good information from them and they are very active with motoring events. April 11 Ottos Mini in west chester PA is holding a Mini cabrio rally in Chester county. Sounds like fun but I might be away that weekend. check out thier site for more info.

Thanks Blue Lightning....I live up in Roxbury Twp - it is in Morris County right off of Route 80. I am going to be in Lakewood this Thursday. It is going to be my first "long" voyage in this car. I'm so looking forward to the drive. I did check out the MONJ forum already. I'm hoping to hook up with a Mini Rally or something. With the weather finally warming up, I'm sure to find something.
