H/K Head unit + aftermarket amp ?

I already read the great threads and websites of GBMINI, Shankrabbit and others.
But I haven't found the answer to my question yet (or overlooked it):

Can I keep my H/K head unit and run it into an aftermarket amp (not the H/K amp outputs, but the head unit outputs ?)
I heard there are only 2 going from the HU to the amp ?!

Someone had mentioned, the HU outputs are digital (?). Is there even anything coming out that can be used by an amp or maybe a DSP ?

I'm not really looking into keeping the H/K modes ... I will put a Audison Bit One into my install that should be able to EQ the sound I want.

Thanks,
Volker

If you remove the H/K amp, the head unit reverts to a standard Boost unit as fitted in non-H/K cars.
Standard speaker level outputs.
You'll need to run speaker feeds from the HU to your aftermarket amp (get line level inputs, or converters).
