Leather seat repair

I purchased leather seats off of eBay. I knew from the description that at least the passenger seat would need some TLC. The bolster has some scratching/cracking. (When I got the seats, I was pleasantly surprised. The seats look brand new, except for some cracks on both driver and passenger seats.)

My question: has anyone tried fixing the cracks themselves? All the threads I read, people got the dealership to replace under warranty. Obviously I don't have that option. Does anyone know of a good repair shop in San Francisco?
I googled this and found some good solutions, but without the exact dye color, I'm afraid I'm going to botch it.

Is this covered under the original warranty, or is it a longer term fix? I have small cracking on my drivers side, and have been babying it with some leather treatment. BTW I have an '04.

I have no idea if it's covered under warranty. I know mine is not for two reasons, I'm trying to repair seats that did not come with car, and second the car is no longer under a warranty.

It seems that these seats are known to do this. My understanding is it takes a lot of preventative maintainance. I've purchased several bottles of Lexol, but I need to repair the cracks before I start using that stuff.

I'm glad I've kept up with my almost weekly leather care routine since the beginning. After more than 6 years, my seats look almost brand new.

Have you tried looking through the phone book for leather repair places? Rather old school, I know.

Not sure what the state of your "cracking" is... mine haven't cracked, but my drivers side bolster got wear marks through the surface of the leather after 30,000 miles or so... probably because of my belt rubbing it on the way in and out. I went to a local shoe repair place that sells shoe cream in a zillion colors - found one that was a close match to the Gravity Blue and used that to cover the wear spots. Not a permanent repair, had to redo it every month or so, but made it look MUCH better. Luckily, a popped a stitch in the cover 1,000 miles before the warranty was out... and that got me a new cover under warranty, even though the wear wouldn't.

Well, I no longer own a phone book, due to the ease of the internet, but I hadn't succeed in earlier attempts, but today I got a referral to Universal Vinyl Repair http://www.leatherrestore.com. He does pretty awesome work, so I think I'm gonna try him out. I'll let you guys know . . .

Seriously?! I must be old fashioned.

Around here, new phone books arrive all the time it seems. We get so many that I tear the extras in half with my bare hands, just to get rid of them.
