I will see ya there! koolmini! How about letting me take the lead once in a while this time? Or are you afraid you can't keep up with a stock MCS? Ha Ha Ha!

I really can't wait. We are going to have such a great time!

Wonder how many other MINI nuts might show up to our second unsanctioned koolmini and Yucca Patrol's Dragon run?

Kinda off topic, but I wonder if I could get my dad to go with me in the summer since I have school the rest of the year, do you guys only arrange a big gathering once a year or more? It seems to be one big one a year as that's all I have read about my year on the board, I guess I'll go try a search and what not.

The large organized meet is in the springtime. Kool and I just can't get enough of the Dragon, and this will be our second unofficial unorganized trip back since Spring. The last time we planned our trip to coincide with the large annual Miata event in July.

I'm only 4 hours away from the Dragon and would almost always be up for meeting other MINI's there at any time of the year.

The "Fall of the Dragon" event for October is basically a minimally planned weekend of motoring adventure for Koolmini, myself, and anyone else who would like to join in. If there is just the 2 of us, great! If there are more, even better!

As far as finding us and meeting places, we will be staying at Fontana Village, so look for the cabin with at least 2 MINI's parked outside. Otherwise, we usually meet up at the Deal's Gap motorcycle resort/gas station at the bottom of the Dragon in the morning and run up and down several times.

We are planning on venturing out and finding some other interesting twisty roads in the area on at least one of the days.

That sounds great, I hope to see you guy's up there. By the way have you ever motored Hwy80 around lake Tomoaha north of Mt. Mitchell? thats one cool road, ( lots of tight esses and switch backs). Top Speed 50 MPH if your lucky.

The best day for me would be on Sunday the 26'th around 10:00 am. I'm not too familliar with the area west of Ashville so I may be a little late.I'm going to be bringing a co-worker who is will be ordering his MCS next week.( Boy will he be in for a thrill).

If I were gonna be in town I would definitely be there. Unfortunately, I have to travel to Canada on company business.

Just a post trip update:

This was a fantastic time to run the dragon. Cool temps for the superchargers, but warm enough to be comfortable the whole time. Changing leaves were amazing, although we rarely noticed them.

We even made it onto the front page of the Tail of the Dragon website. When you are the fastest vehicles on the Dragon for the weekend, it makes you feel like a superhero!

We plan to make the Fall of the Dragon an annual event, even if it is just an event of 2. The leaves changing were fantastic, and with dry roads, there was not any issue of the leaves getting in the way of the MINI's performance, they just got brushed to the side of the road by all the traffic.

Check it out! More pics to come!

here's the pic of you dont want to click!

Edit: here is another pic of us!

Sounds like you and Andrew had a great time. You know I would have been there, but had a last second change in plans. Already have my place booked for the spring meet.

I’ll be seeing Andrew at the Birmingham meet this weekend.
