Hello All. This is my first post. Bought my slightly used 03 MC in December of 08. I finally found the reason why my hood open light goes nuts in the wet (in the rain or car wash). I followed the wiring harness coming from the sensor on the passenger side hood latch. This bundle of wire is routed against the painted sheet metal in the engine bay and under the main grounding cable for the engine.

This heavy gauge ground cable pinched the harness, and over 40k miles of vibration, wore throught the insulation on the harness. It wore the wiring on the back side(the side that touches the sheet metal). I dried off the wiring, re-taped. Problem solved!! No more anxiety wondering if the hood/trunk light is going to come on in the rain.
