i need to vent!!!!

so friday night im coming home just before midnight, i am about to get off the exit when an audi a6 comes from the 3rd lane around a uhual truck and hits me, i am in the 1st lane, i spin around and i find myself looking into oncoming traffic, so i whipped my wheel around the other way to straighten out, which i did and gain some control when i lost control again and slid into the guard rail, as i stopped i watched the audi a6 that had hit me speed away....JERK!!!!!!!!!!! the guy in the uhual truck had to pull me out of my window since niether of my doors were able to be opened .. the witness called 911 & all of that i was fine except for my back and neck ... but ... i do not complain! im not one of those! the state troopers caught the guy a few exits down ... as of now i have no information on him . but my car is totalled & he will pay!!!!!!!!!!! my whole front suspension is shot, both left and right side of my car is very badly banged up considering niether of the doors opened .. and most of the left side of the frame is damaged ...

i will post up pictures as soon as i get them ...
what will my next car be ... i will deffinatly miss my mini but at heart i am japanese car (honda/acura) lover, brought up workin on and driving them since i was a little fart so its in my blood .... dont get me wrong ... i loved my mini and always will love minis & would not mind having another one ...

Sorry to hear, but just for future reference you should never, ever, ever, EVER get out of your car like that after an accident. You may feel fine, but that could just be the adrenaline blocking out the pain. You could have seriously hurt your neck or back and getting out of the car without being stabilized could exacerbate the injury. You may feel fine, but that is probably the adrenaline blocking out the pain.

Next time, (hopefully not) stay in the car until the medics get there and take care of you, and try not to move.

This is coming from a firefighter by the way.

Get the money for the total loss. Go to physical therapy sessions. File a lawsuit. Get more money. Get yourself a nice M3 courtesy of the other driver's stupidity.

Wow second story in not to long about hit and runs on mini owners. Last time it was an H2 who I think was never apprehended. Good to hear you're ok and that they caught the guy!!!

Hmmmmmmmmm. You're one of THOSE people that I b!tch about all the time. Go to PT whether you need it or not. Jack up those medical bills. Get a bigger BI settelment. Make them pay !!!

You know what you and other like you do ? You increase premiums for the rest of us. Should be easy to see why, no ??

Also, a lawyer or lawsuit doesn't get you any more money. In fact, I've been pleasantly surprised lately on how many lawsuits are coming back in the insurance company's favor. Quite a few are coming back where we offered thousands of dollars to settle, the attorney files suit asking for $10,000 and the judge/jury award NOTHING.

Jeez man, I didn't mean to set you off or anything but the only reason why I said it was cuz he said this "i was fine except for my back and neck ... " I'm only saying from experience because I actually needed PT myself before on my back and left arm. Even today my left arm still goes number by it self randomly. I'm just saying he should get what he deserves? If I'm wrong then I take it back.

Good to hear that you weren't seriously injured. That's the main thing! Sad to hear about another MINI going to greener pastures. My prediction is that after getting a Honda/Acura for a while, you'll miss your MINI and come back to the fold...

Easy, CR&PW&JB has been there for many of us with very good advice. He has given advice that has helped people get MORE money from insurance companies when deserved.
I understand CR&PW&JB's point of view. I don't want anyone trying to get money from an insurance company unless it is justified. This is why we all pay high insurance rates.

I totallly agree. CR&PW&JB actually helped me out a lot when I got into my first accident, so I didn't mean to say anything that would offend him.

I understand that. However State Farm has tried hard to hike rates for Florida Homeowners insurance unsuccessfully in recent weeks. Nice way to treat its paying customers that for DECADES have filled up their coffers by paying their premiums.

Good thing the Florida legislature has denied their rate hike request time after time.

The way the insurance industry operates in this state has left a pretty bad taste in my mouth. I can't help but to think of all of them as leeches and opportunists wanting to make a dime out of people in dire financial straits.

Easy on ClubmanS, everyone.

He's been holding a grudge from a thread long, long ago and from a galaxy far, far away and jumps on every chance he has to bad mouth me and/or the insurance industry.

As you can see, his view of insurance is one-sided and close-minded. He has no idea of the factors that can lead to premium rates. He thinks rates increase only to increase profits.

He just can't help himself.

And I'll bow out of the thread at this point as to not further hi-jack the OP's thread about his accident.

Sorry about the accident... glad you're ok. But why would you want to get a different kind of car? Didn't your MINI just save your life? I'm not getting the connection I guess.

that sucks!

--Wow sorry to hear that MiNi_K. I'm glad they caught that schmuck of an audi driver! Something similar happened to me over a decade ago and the guy got away. Sorry that you and your MINI got banged up. But it is good that you're still in one piece.

My neck and back was injured in a car accident many moons ago and if I may I have a few suggestions.

1.) Find a good physical therapist and chiropractor. Ask around and see who everyone goes to. Even then if they aren't making any progress keep searching for a new one that IS making progress. Lotta quacks and horrible operations out there.

2.) If your injuries turn out to be extensive, try to exhaust all other options before turning to surgery or cortizone shots. Those two items are big money for chiropractors and the bad ones will offer that right away as a quick fix. However going that route may lead to a life of pain as sometimes the surgery makes it worse than already is. I have friends that have learned this lesson.

3.) Your pain may go away but if it comes back a few weeks or months later go back to the doctor right away and have it checked out. Sometimes whiplash does not act up for weeks or months. Trust me you don't want to foot the bill for Physical therapy or treatment.

As for getting a new car, get what you want. I understand that after a bad accident you may even have a hard time looking at another MINI because of the painful memories. Along with the physical injuries there will be some psychological injuries. Take your time and work on healing yourself.

Keep you eyes on the bright side. You're alive and not too badly injured. They caught the jerk and now the law and you will make them pay. MINI's can be repaired or replaced. Your MINI did keep you alive. You might not be here if you were driving a Neon.

Keep your head up MiNi_K and you'll do just fine.
