Hooking my pant leg on the lever

Am I the only one who has this problem??? When I am getting out of the car, I swing my left leg out first and then as I begin to move my right leg out, I hook the cuff of my right pant on the seat adjustment lever. Its really starting to **** me off. Someone said to change the way I get out of the car but, at 6'2'' I get in and out any way I can. I'm thinking about some way to keep the lever from hooking my pant leg but want to know if anyone else has had the same problem.

Never had that problem. I'm 6'7".

Perhaps less fashionably baggy pants are the answer?

My left foot continually leaves a footprint on the side of the door as I get in.

Truth be told, while it has never happened to me, I do seem to recall this exact subject coming up a while back. You might want to try a search, but apparently you are not alone in this.

Not with pants but on the passenger side, my wife and I have had problems with straps (computer bags, knapsacks, purses) catching on the handle when a bag is put in the footwell. If you raise the seat height, the handle moves closer to the seat and there is a smaller gap for things to catch. This might not be an option if it isn't your preferred seat position.

If you could hook some sort of strap between the edge of the levers on either side of the seat base it would prevent your pants from being able to hook around the lever as easily and still keep the levers independently useful.

Wear shorts.

I think it's happened to me once or twice, but I was wearing pjs at the time and they were cuffed at the bottom.

Happens to me constantly.

I broke 2 adjuster levers on my silver car doing it.

Makes me feel better that I'm not the only one and I do appreciate all the comments. Maybe it is time to put away the bell bottoms once and for all (483FITTER).

That's really funny!

The husband is 6'5" and he snapped mine right off just like that! For the longest time we had a screwdriver on the floor so he could crank my seat up 5 clicks when I needed to drive. Finally I'd had enough and he ordered the replacement part (Pelican Parts I think)... wasn't expensive. We had it here on the counter for awhile and finally I just replaced it myself.

Now, although that doesn't happen to me... occasionally in the house I get my big toe caught up in my extra long pajama pants and get all tripped up.

As for a suggestion (since so many seem to have one to offer)... how about one of the old school terry cloth wrist bands wrapped around the cuff of the leg until you are safely out of the car?

Good luck!

I always have my seat on the lowest setting so I ground the lever arm off & repainted the now circular cover the same color it was before modifying it.

I used a bolt to affix the piece to my drill press- This allowed me to use the drill press like a lathe.

It looks OEM ; )

Skinny jeans, mini skirt, or no pants at all. Your choice.

...in all seriousness, though, this has occurred to me once but I was wearing baggy pyjama pants (don't ask). Maybe you could get in the habit of sliding the seat back a bit before you climb out? Or is it already all the way back...

I had this happen a few times when I first got my MCS. This no longer happens to me, and I think it's because I exit the car differently now.

It happens to me on occassion. And I'm 5'4. My guess is that it has more to do with pants being loose at the bottom than anything else.

I can't hook my pants on there if I TRY. I can't figure out how anyone else is doing it.

I'll bet the people that don't have this problem kick their speaker every time they exit the car...

I pull my foot backwards around the seat, then step out to avoid scuffs.

I've done it a few times, slamming my ankle against the sill. That hurt, so I learned to stop doing it. Failing that, what about going in and out Dukes of Hazzard style?

I think bahawton is on to something. Now that I stop catching my pants, I occasionally scuff the door.
