Heated Seats in North TX

I was just curious if anybody in the DFW area has heated seats. If so, do you think you used them enough to justify the cost? I know they're nice and cozy in January, but from march-october, it's not generally an issue down here...and I'd hate to pay $500 for anything I only use 10 hours a year..

Just curious on your thoughts.

Toasty Tushy in Texas

I've got heated seats in my '06.

Honestly... this year i have actually gotten to use the feature more than a few times... and i love it (ice cold leather on your hiney in the a.m is not fun)... but if i had my druthers i would have used the $$ for a different upgrade when getting Orson.

I live a bit south of you in Central Texas and dearly love my heated seats. I turn them on almost every morning. It makes taking the kids to school MUCH more pleasant. I didn't have them on my 07 MC and now that I have them on my 09 I would definitely recommend them.

Good luck with your decision!

I bought my MCS used and thought the heated seats were just silly in DFW. I've since used them on a few chilly mornings, and they're not as silly as I thought. That said, I wouldn't pay for them as an option if I could use that money to buy something cooler. They're OK, but not worth $500.00 to me.

I've never had them and haven't missed them at all on either of my MINIs. My hands are usually what needs warming and the cabin heater does that job. If I had a cabrio, yes, but otherwise not needed. Of course if you want them for some reason, fine. Folks can option up some expensive MINIs, but I tend to be very selective on options and therefore drive some nice, but reasonably priced, MINIs.

I would 100% say they are worth the $. They come in handy on long drives to even when it's hot outside to give your back and butt a little warmth to relax.

I don't have them but have the neophrene seat covers. They keep the chill off the buns in the winter and the burn off in the summer.

If you haven't already done so you might want to check out http://www.metroplexmini.org/ the DFW MINN group.

Yes, I've had cloth seats on both of my MINIs. Seats getting hot in summer are more of a problem here than cold seats in winter, imo.

Heated seats are absolutely awesome for cold track days!

I sold my first MINI and got a new one because it didn't have heated seats! I got heated seats in my smart car that I only had from April-October, and still used them occasionally. I won't buy another car without heated seats, having learned my lesson. Even in Dallas they are just great, imho!

Down in balmy San Antonio, they've been worth it. On those few nippy mornings the toasty feel of the heated seats, often with the top down, is a real pleasure. The summer trip up into the Rockies made it worthwhile too.

Do it! I'm looking for a used MCC nationwide and I cannot believe how many otherwise perfect cars I'm turning down because they don't have heated seats. I'm in WI so they are a must here, and see all these gorgeous, loaded cars that don't have heated seats and have to turn away.

We don't have them on our MINI, but I have had them on other cars. They are nice when the weather turns cold, but they are great if you pull a muscle in your back

It depends...do you like cold butts? Heated seats are right up there with microwave ovens, indoor plumbing, and toilet paper...how in the world could we live without 'em.

My wife uses the seat in the summer because she just likes them.

One thing to say about the heated seats on the Mini is that they warm up fast. They'll heat up before I'm at the end of the block.

I'm sure you've already made a decision, but I got them on my used 06 MCS. I didn't think they would be worth it up here in Lewisville, north of Dallas, but I absolutely love them. My wife does too!!!

Use them quite often in Austin...obviously fall and winter, but on a long drive and with my back aching, I'll switch them on low or medium no matter what time of year just to help relax those muscles.

Agreed! I live in Atlanta and will not own another car without heated seats. I've even used them in the summer if my back was tired

I live in South Louisiana and use mine all the time! I bought my car straight off the lot, and the heated seats were included, but I thought I'd never use them. Oh, how wrong I was!!!

I hate cold butts, and I cannot lie. You other owners can't deny. When the wind is blowin', just as you start goin', turn them on and your butt will fry.

Sorry, it's late. Couldn't resist. Love my heated seats. Borrowed a car that didn't have any last week and was missing them. Like others said, when you have the flu or a sore back, they are awesome, and the weather will be "cold enough" far more often than you would think. Wish we had steering wheel warmers, too, but MINI's warm up amazingly quickly, so its more of a problem in other cars we own.
