Racing passenger seat question

I've already got a new Corbeau racing seat installed in my driver side and I need to get the passenger seat installed now. I remember reading about the passenger side having weight sensors for the airbags, is that true? I have an HK system and I think the manual said something about a setting that only works when someone is not in the passenger seat, I assume the new seat will effect that.

What are some other concerns for the passenger seat install? I know for the driver side i had to use a resistor to trick the car into not showing an airbag light.

The driver side was in and out pretty much, hopefully this will be the same.

Thanks

Pretty sure you also need the resistor.
No concerns about the install, Same thing as the driver side. Are these "race" seats, meaning they are fixed back?

Yes fixed back seats. I'm not worried about the back seat if that is what you are getting at, its been deleted already.

the resistor dosn't work on 05-06 I have Sparco's installed in mine (05 R53) both sides I just took apart the spedo and put black tape on the airbag light! not sure if it disables all the airbags or not I have gotten mixed responces on that!

It does not effect the rest of the airbags. That was told to my by my dealer. Also, the resistors should work, you jus have to measure the output to get the right resistor in there.

So business as usual for the passenger side then right? The Driver side was a 4 ohm resistor, I'm going to guess the passenger side is the same.

Resistors work on 06's. I used them on my seat for the airbag with no issue.

Resistors work to replace the airbag, but not the weight sensor pad and associated circuit in the passenger seat. To date there are only two solutions: cover up the warning lights that shine due to the open circuit for the weight sensor, or reinstall the weight sensor. I chose the latter and I believe I am the only person with a fully functioning weight sensor in a fixed-back racing seat.
This is what it looks like:

It works perfectly.

Does every year have a weight sensor in the seat. It doesn't seem like my 02 MC had one. If it does I may need to do some work here.

You know, it's possible you don't. There should be some indicator that tells you the sensor turned the airbag in the dash off when a child sits in the seat. It will often turn off (light up) when you put a bag of groceries in the seat also.
The sensor is certainly there in the 05 and 06s.

Is the weight sensor buried pretty deep in the seat or is just underneath? I'd rather not have to tear stock seat apart to get to it. I have an 04 MCS so I'm not sure if I have one anyway. I know the 05 was a pretty big update, that might have been one of them.

They were an "upgrade" in the 05+ cars.

That's what I thought. Thanks . Now I can rest nicely knowing that my car has pretty much none of the safety features that it should like the 05 on's.
