R50/53 Question ...?
[1] Can a Riley Elves, Riley Elf MkIII be classed as a MINI?
[2] Has anyone got pictures of a MINI Inocenti?
[3] Does America have a TV channel called 'Channel 5'?
[4] Why did Hollywood try and make The Italian Job better? I think the new TIJ is very good but nothing in my eyes compares it to the Original.

Glad you like the original The Italian Job so much.
I condensed all four of your questions into one post. Having four threads titled
Question [1]...?
Question [2]...?
Question [3]...?
Question [4]...?
may be cute, but if you can't take the time to make a descriptive title, don't expect people to take the time to make an informative reply. Anyhow, not trying to come down on you, just trying to make a point.
Also, I see you're new to MINI Cooper Online, Welcome. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

1) Riley Elf and Wolsley Hornet are indeed Minis ... and in club events are calssed as "Mini Varients" : They share everything with the Classics but their body work on the front and back is a bit different (and interior trim is more fancy!)
2)The Innocenti is another Mini Varient: they were built under license and the first models looked just like the Classics. Later models had their own unique body - one that many say should have been what the Factory in GB should have adopted to bring the Original up to date ... you can check places like this for more : http://www.inno-mini-world.com/
3)only in GB ...

All the answers are here except Channel 5. Channel 5 is not a national station but a local station in Southern California. I used to watch it all the time growing up. This is going to date me but in Orange County which is apart of the LA broadcasting area before cable we had channels 2, 4, 5, 7. 9, 11 and 13. They still air in free space and on cable. So when i saw Channel 5 on the new Italian Job it made me a little homesich although seeing the traffic reminded me why I am not there anymore.
Most areas in the US use channel 5 on the dial for a local station or an affiliate to one of the national networks.
gobsmaked, I grew up in the LA area also and KTLA channel 5 is the station you must be remembering.

>>How many different types of MINI are there? *including the new MINIs*
This would take an entire new thread to list them all. These little cars were built all around the world. And with each manufacturing country meant a Mini that was a little bit different.

Here's the Inno Mini site Inno Mini World
You can also go to Google and search Innocenti or MINI History and you will find pages and pages of information that lists the types, Mini Minor, Mini 1000 & 1001, Mini Matic, Mini T, Mini Cooper 1300, Mini de Tomaso Turbo, Bertone Models, Austin Mini, ... you name it and the information is out there!!

The Traveller/Countryman and the Clubman refered to two different things; The Morris Traveller or Austin Countryman estate cars were available steel-sided or with optional wood trim ("timbered"
but the Clubman was a term for models with the full-width squared-off grill - it had a 'wagon version too but only steel-sided (as the stick-on fake wood doesn't count!).

Charlie,
Methinks you're homesick for the good life of England. Must be the food, no?
Get yourself off to a good start tomorrow with some rashers and blood sausage, don't forget the mushrooms and tomatos either. Eggs should be poached, but not too well done. That and a hot, and steaming cup of java, and you should be alright.
That, or take a nice relaxing vacation along Spain's Costa de Sol. Maybe mountain air and a sea breeze is th cure for what ails you.
