Power Steering Pump?

I am a little nervous. I went to parallel park in front of my place yesterday and it was VERY hard to steer, like I had to yank the wheel to make it go. This is my first car and it is only 5 months old!! I am nervous because i am in school and can't really afford such a costly repair. I am wondering:
1. Is this covered under warranty?
2. What makes this happen? I don't drive any more ridiculous than a normal Mini driver!

Does your Park Distance Control work properly? You know that beeping sound when you're in reverse?

*Although my post makes sense to me... the reason I asked is because our PDC on our new '08 MCSC wasn't working. Took it to the dealer yesterday and apparently when that isn't working, it's a sign that the fuse was blown... usually caused by the PS fan/pump. Anyway, we had no idea. Good plan for you to go get it checked out if you have any concerns.

If your car is under warranty, just about anything that goes wrong is covered. The exceptions are if it has been abused or modified, or parts that normally wear out and must be replaced (wiper blades, wiper fluid, brake pads, clutches, etc.) Your power steering is electric, so that could very well be the problem (assuming you have a 2007-2008). I'd make an appointment with the dealer as soon as is convenient (if it continues to have steering problems, it would be a safety hazard...asap in that case.)

WOW! Thanks for the quick responses. I don't have the beep beep beeping noise, I didn't get that option. But, I did call the dealer and I am bringing my car in next monday for them to take a look at it! Thanks for the advice!!!

Call the dealer back and tell him it is also making noises that don't positively add to your driving experience.
If it is broke today, fix it today.
