¿How to change the adhesive shift **** replacement? photo in

Hi everyone, do you know how to change the shift **** replacement adhesive? i bought this one in checkered:

But i'm a little scared because if i break it, should i take off the chrome top with the screwdriver, and then pull up and will go off?

The website says, "The shift **** top replacement only takes a few minutes to change and comes with all instructions". Were instructions missing?

I don't know anything about the installation, but in general when trying to remove anything involving adhesive, the job is made easier by heating it up with a hair dryer or heat gun on low setting before prying off.

the instructions comes with it but the text is very confused, i tried to pull up the chrome part from the **** but that was just worse cause the chrome part was scratch with the screwdriver, i don't know if i should take off the whole **** or just that chrome part, very disappointed spending money and then no works or just don't know how works,
isn't just an adhesive, the adhesive is inside the ****

I was looking at this today on mossmini! Considered buying it, but that was my dilemma too: HOW?!

Good luck... will keep looking at this post to see how it turns out when you figure it out!

Just heat the top of the shifter with a hair dryer then use some dental floss and work under an edge of the 6 speed diagram and slowly work toward the opposite side using a sawing motion. do not be afraid to use the hair dryer a lot.

I have changed mine to the checkered version while the shifter **** was still mounted on the car. Heating it up may assist with releasing the adhesive but I did not take this step. On my car the only way I could get it off was to use a VERY thin flat tip screw driver wedged between the chrome and the part to be replaced. You must wedge the tip in while pointing it straight down. Once driven in-between, push the handle toward the direction of the exterior of the car (driving the tip under the part to be replaced). It will likely break into several pieces so that the part can be pulled out in pieces. For what it's worth, dental floss or fishing line will not be able to be utilized due to the close tolerances and convex surface that the adhesive is mounted on. I would suggest wearing eye protection in-case the part breaks and flies toward your face while prying it out.

I just ordered this a few days ago. The installation described didn't sound hard. I hope I don't have the same problems =/ Goodluck

hey, finally i did it, just remove the old shift top and added the new checkered, very nice and very happy.
I just got the hair dryer, pushing it on the top of the shift ( old replacement) and with a screwdriver, not small, because i coudn't with the small one, and pushing very hard on the sides and moving it like a clock, and just went out
