Interior/Exterior The 95% sunroof sunshade solution (for $5.00)
The 95% sunroof sunshade solution (for $5.00)
OK, I know it sounds hokey but bear with me. The one complaint I had with my new MINI sunroof was the that my head got fried on hot summer days. I had my car windows tinted by an experienced tint pro, but he recommended against tinting the sunroof because of the risk of heat-cracking (not trying to start a flame war on pros/cons of sunroof tinting). So I came up with an alternate solution: I found these very thin, very opaque, sheets of black spongy material which I attach to the sunshade netting with small safety pins. Now I can totally block out the sun with the sunshade closed and the black sheets are impossible to see from inside the car. The downside (and why I call this a 95% solution) is that I can't slide the sunshade all the way-- only about 1/2-way or so. For me this an acceptable trade off (YMMV). I've attached an image of the material I used. It's called "Cool Foam" and I got it at Michael's Arts and Crafts here in SoCal. Just wanted to share this info in case someone else is looking for a cheap solution to getting fried by the sun. :-). Happy motoring...

I to have the problem of my head getting fried while driving. And as of yet have not come up with good solution. Thanks for the tip and I will have to see what i can do along the same lines.
