Please help me!!!! Door dash light stays on!!!

OK, here is the problem I am having with my 2002 Cooper S. The dash light for the door being open stays on. I know the problem is the passenger door. When I open the door the dome light does not turn on. When I open the drivers door and close it, the dome light stays on because it thinks the passenger door is open. The window in the passenger door also does not go up all the way when the door is closed because it also thinks the door is open. I thought it was the door latch and got a new one, did not solve the problem. I also did the hold the window switch up for 10 seconds thing like stated on other posts. So the car thinks the door is open even though it is closed. Anyone ever had this problem? Can anyone help me? Any advise would be much appreciated. Abbreviated: Dome light stays on, dash light stays on, window does not go all the way, but door is closed all the way.

There has to be some kind of trip switch that reads if the door is closed or not. But I'm not sure where that is. Did you change the latch yourself? If the dealer did it, they should have noticed and found the problem.
