Dressing up the MINI for the holidays

Wondering is anyone has any store bought car costumes. I was looking to get the cute little antlers, but I'm not sure it will work with the frameless windows the mini has. Thanks!

I have the red nose and antlers and it works fine with the frameless windows.

Thanks... heard they had them at a local store last year so my husband ran out to see them in person. If they aren't there we'll order them online tomorrow. They are so cute! Found a website that has costumes for halloween, st. patrick's day, valentine's day, easter, etc. Love them!

Couple of sites...
2 Least expensive antler/nose costume sites...
http://www.nextag.com/reindeer-car-antlers/search-html &
http://www.taylorgifts.com/prodetail...c~NEXTAG46.asp
Both have $4.98 flat shipping! I think they only have the antler and possibly easter costumes. Other sites have additional holiday costumes available!
www.cargetups.com (most expensive, but most costumes to select from, free priority mail... they have the bat costume)
http://www.weecanshop.com/SearchResu...h=car+costumes
Bat Costume only ($9.99 + 7.95 Shipping)... http://www.shindigz.com/catalog.cfm?...0Car%20Costume

Enjoy... be sure to post photos if you get them! :-)

This site has the reindeer antlers and nose as well.

Our Cooper Club is planning a trip down Christmas Tree Lane, a neighborhood that annually decorates for Christmas.

"The Old Fig Garden neighborhood, on a stretch of Van Ness Boulevard." For 85 years, residents have been decorating 2 miles of Van Ness for the holidays. Today these decorations include 60,000 feet of lights twinkling from the street's 300 deodar cedars and lawn displays that can cost thousands of dollars.
  • Christmas Tree Lane celebrates its 86th anniversary in 2008, making it one of the longest-running holiday events nationwide.
  • It began in 1920 with the decoration of a single tree in the memory of a child who died. The lane went dark in 1941 [wartime restrictions] and 1973 [energy crisis].
  • More than 100,000 people visit Christmas Tree Lane each year.

Christmas Tree Lane sounds like a blast!
I a bit of good news to share. Party City has the antlers/nose costume for $14.99 (no s&H). Even better... when I bought the very last one off the shelf it rang up for only $11.25. They fit Salt N Pepa great, but we did put some of a microfiber cloth in the clip to protect the tinted windows. Stayed on just fine on the hwy at 70mph! Here's a photo.

I didn't even know that they made car costumes. I did dress my previous MINI as a mole for mole day in 11th grade. I'll see if i have the pictures still.

I'll be dressing my MINI up for the 50th anniversary year. I've been putting my effort into that.

Too cute SaltNPepa. My MINI is Pepperwhite too and I was concerned that the red nose might "bleed" onto the bumper if it gets wet. Has anyone had this problem? I did that to a new roof a few years ago when I placed red silk pointsetta in the window box on the second floor. It looked like I killed Santa and tossed him out onto the roof! Fortunately the summer sun faded the "blood stain" and my roof was no worse for the wear.

I hadn't even thought about it bleeding on to the paint. I've seen them around for a couple of years though so I would think that they are safe. I'll pour some water on it later today and see if anything happens.
I got so many beeps, waves, looks, etc. I love it.

Love that photo!

Mother natute helped us test out the question of whether or not the nose would bleed on to the car. I got a good shower on SNP and the nose did not bleed! So far so good!

A warning to those who are thinking of putting a wreath on your front grille. Most of them are held together with wire. Be sure to protect your paint job from being scratched by the wire. I found out the hard way 2 years ago. But the car looked great with the wreath, I got a lot of smiles and waves. It's a chick magnet.

Thanks for testing the nose. Tomorrow is our five month anniversary together and I would hate to do anything that would hurt her. In October while on the freeway, a big truck kicked up a rock and made a small mar on her chrome grille. You would have thought that I had been attacked personally. I am sure that only I notice it, but since I wash her every weekend I see these things. I have not tried the antlers on the cabrio but the windows seem pretty tight and should be secure. With the top up of course!

I'm embarrassed to bump this, but the missus really wants antlers for the Mini. Most of them seem to attach by getting pinched between the glass and the window frame. That won't work well with our frameless windows, so are there other solutions out there?

Thanks

Posts #2 and #8 seem to confirm that the antlers as ok with frameless windows. I think you're OK to join the reindeer games!

I gave in.... Mine has clips on them so they latch onto the window itself, thus, you can roll up and down the windows and the antlers will stay on.

Or for you fancy car owners, press a button to make the windows go up and down

I bought my set at Five Below for $5

Thanks for the suggestion! I had never heard of this store, turns out there is one right next to my office. They even have them listed on their website, the picture could not be more fitting: http://www.fivebelow.com/now/deckthehalls/
